Jeff Rawstorne, Jeffire on here, made me a custom Aviator spod 13ft, absolutely top quality and the spec I wanted worked out less than the off the shelf version.
Thoroughly recommend Jeff's work.

Aviator 13 ft spod. The normal basic version. Not the the Raven, the black, or the TI version. The spec you outlined in post 23 actually.

Aviator 13ft. All the spod rod you'll ever need plus about 40 yds more

Does anybody stock Harrison rods apart from Johnson Ross, The Tackle Box, and Angling Direct?

I used to think that way too, but after deciding to treat myself I'd say absolutely it's worth it. It just makes everything easier, and far more accurate too.

Is there any benefit to getting the aviator spod rod over a tx extreme or similar for around 150.

Taking nothing away from the aviators reputation for being good but surely after a certain price point your not really gaining much from a spod rod. I currently have a TX-A spod and it does everything i need except for 130 yards+ so i see the benifit of upping to the next level like the tx plus or extreme. But your talking double the cost for the aviators.

Any guides without linings (minima,at, etc) will all groove with braid in time its been proven .The raven edition is all black ,at reel seat, guides fittings. I personally would stick to the standard ,kigan guides ,fuji reel seat etc.

I had the CFX. Lovely blank but for me the handle was too short and I didn’t like the fold-friendly ringing.
Definitely worth looking at in person as I am sure that the build is Marmite and other people will love these features.

If you can't see a picture of the spod rod in raven edition have a look on Johnson Ross at the Aviator 10fts in raven, sure they've got photos with them.

It's the TI version that jeffire isn't keen on.

The raven edition is just all black, abbreviated shrink handle and vortex air guides. I've got a rod with the vortex air guides and was a bit suspect at first but really like them so far, haven't used braid with them.
