I believe I have successfully implemented the change.

For anyone wondering WTF this is all about, here's a link which will explain things better and more concisely than I can

Certificate installed, just sorting out re-directs.

I've not done this for over 10 years (since I used to do server admin as a small part of my daily job)...so taking my time in case things have changed and I make a booboo!

Should be done tonight though, then I'll just have to check for any hard-coded http links (which the IIS redirects might overcome, we'll see)

Have a good ( and secure! ) 2023 mate

Never felt the need before due to such a small chance of hacking someone who had posted their address. Nobody has succeeded in hacking the site in 20years.

There's much easier ways to find where someone lives than try to steal their login info from here.

If it makes users happier, I will install SSL tomorrow when I get home, I've just been and purchased 5 years of certificates

Hi,
Why is there no secure connection to carpforum with a proper ssl certificate?
if you need any help creating one just let me know, be happy to help.

passwords sent in plain text especially when you have threads like "how many rods" "how many reels" if people have filled in their profile with their addresses is asking for trouble

Cheers
Neil.
