If you're reading this then you will have noticed that the forum is back.
What happened?
Back on Oct 6th one of the databases on my server died, went corrupt.
I spoke with the hosting company (who shall remain nameless for now) and managed to get them to reboot the server, it had locked up, so that I could attempt to repair everything via iPhone and tethered iPad, whilst fishing.
After chasing the hosting company and a few reboots I managed to get the site going again.
It plodded on for a couple weeks and I thought maybe it was a glitch in the matrix and everything was now 'golden' again...
...then Weds 19th (two weeks later) it died again.
Call hosting company and managed to get hold of someone with a bit of IT knowledge. He confirmed that the hard disks were failing. This was a tad annoying as I had asked them two weeks ago to check for that...
So I managed to get SOME of the databases off the server, but the CarpForum database was corrupt. I couldn't get hold of it.
So...I've had to use a back up of the CF database from back in September to get things going again....we've lost a month or so of posts BUT the site is back for those of you who missed it.
Unfortunately, all of the code was lost....and there were some new bits of code that I never had a backup of. So the 'like' functionality is no more (the data up to Sept 20th will still be in the database...so once I rewrite the like functions the thumbs will appear again)
Going forward...
The site(s) are now hosted on a new server I purchased. The server should be slightly faster, and I think I have more storage so I might consider writing some photo upload routines to save you having to host pics on ImgBB etc

Another thing (for me) to tidy up...missing profile pics.
If your image is missing, email the photo to me (link bottom right of page) and I will get them back in place ASAP
