I believe that people think they're fishing more accurately than they are in reality.

In reply to Post #6 I always add half a wrap to allow for swing back on my rods using Mono, Spomb 7 wraps, Rods 7 and a half, hope this helps.

In reply to Post #6 And if you allow for that with your marker rod

In reply to Post #2 If you’re hitting the marker float with your fishing rods you’ll be a couple of feet short due to swing back surely.

In reply to Post #3 Thanks . I didn’t know whether the stretch of mono meant I’d be hitting a different spot .

Bit of an aside, does anyone factor in rig length when clipping up. I.e. you clip up tight to a weedbed or far margin and then your 7inch hooklink is going to land further than your clipped up and in the weed or something. Just curious if anyone else has thought about it when fishing tight spots
Thought about it, then worked on the theory that lead is denser and will travel faster through the water and the hooklink will be above it falling. If I'm using braid it will fall in a heap, it's only with stiffer hooklinks that it will arc down. Not a problem in most scenarios.
I do try to be on 'my side' of the weed, so the lead is hidden or not obvious.

In reply to Post #1 I wouldn’t worry at short distances. I don’t do any long range fishing so can’t advise on that.

If it is possible, walk your clipped out leading rod out to the clip and mark the spot.
Then walk out your fishing rod to that mark and clip up.
Now try doing 'the wrap'. Compare the two and see if they are both correct.
You might find that with mono there is a slight elastic and pull back, but I think it should be almost spot on.
I must confess to preferring to hit the marker float, clipping up to that then doing the walk out to be sure.

If you were leading with braid would you wrap up the same distance if using mono on your rods . For example if you found an area to fish at say 10 wraps whilst leading with braid would you still wrap up to 10 wraps if using mono on your rods , thanks?
