Forgive my ignorance ken but are granules just coarse ground peanuts? And what's the prep if adding to a damp groundbait mix

Peanut granules. A well known bird feed outlet sells them.

Title should have read peanuts. I'm embarking on mostly carpet feed based approach this year and want to add chopped peanuts to the mix. I seem to remember ken saying that chopped peanuts are ok to just soak but really want to clarify. I've seen the super red had chopped nuts but are they presoaked?
