In reply to Post #4 What surprised me with that video was that it needed six/seven washers to reverse the cone.
New reels seem to come with two at most.
I suppose each model is different though.
I am fortunate in that I can fabricate washers but many will have to source them from the manufacturer.

In reply to Post #5 The theory should be the same. You either take away a washer or you add a washer to level off the line lay.

In reply to Post #4 Cheers but my Shimano XTEA 10k spools are not the same type of spool.

In reply to Post #1 There's a video on YouTube that Terry Edmunds did showing what to do with the washers. I'll try and find it.

Hi,
I have decided to do a bit of Piking until the weather gets more warmer !
So I got out my old Shimano XTEA 10k's to put some braid on.
After I spooled them up, the first one is front heavy, What I mean is the braid was full to the front lip yet the braid had not spooled the lower part of the spool. It looks like a cone shape.
I know its to do with the washers inside, I have one larger one, two smaller ones and a spring to pop the spool off.
What I want to know please is the running order so the braid goes on the spool straight. I cannot find the instructions or anything about the reels schematics online to redress the situation.
Can anyone help please ??
Cheers Neal.
