exactly right
when in 2014 a huge fish came out in an enduro the world record 34,9 kg mirror carp, captured during an official fishing enduro competition in France and the public water was all over the place and its easy to see ? its laughable that its a secret ?
bit like Rainbow shall we keep that a secret as well or Cassien etc

You all know the name of the lake I'm sure by now..

Its name is common knowledge if you are a regular visitor to France. It is also featured on at least three French "Where To Fish"-type websites, on one Dutch site and a further German one and there may be more, I didn't do a deep search.

If you know, you know, and if you don't know then find out by doing your research as John will have done and as most pioneering anglers will also have done.

Incidentally, it is my understanding that pike will not take to being caught too regularly, whereas carp often get caught several times a year and still come back to a hookbait. We had a pike down here in a Cornish ressy that went in at 32lb. The news quickly spread, and it was caught three or four times in fairly quick succession. It was later found dead, possibly as a result of the stress of the multiple captures.

Plenty of publics on HERE for anyone feeling adventurous, my opinion if its in print on the internet it's hardly a secret "HINT" the lake in question is on this site not too difficult to find although the information is dated, anything info past 10 years and your taking a gamble of what remains as it's probably had a vindage and all the big carp sold at the auction in Paris and bought by private lake owners, although those left or restocked with smaller carp can still make for decent fishing as they don't take long to munter up.

Definitely a strange thing for someone to do that described the location of, and asked for info on, an Essex water that is kept well under the radar.

Ok, point taken guys.
Didn't think removing a venue name would cause such a stir to the point that some users have even crawled out of the non-carp section to post in here.

You all know the name of the lake I'm sure by now..

Not sure deleting a public waters name is the way forward myself either , I found out about it by accident when researching another water north of it , and a friend told me that this lake would be an option if others were busy . I see it from both sides , but the majority , in fact the vast majority on here will never travel that far , certainly with only that lake to target without a few back up venues to go to if it's busy .

Korda have a video on YouTube fishing the venue. It’s not a secret club water.

That’s KORDA on YOUTUBE

I reckon they may have a wider audience across Europe on a slightly bigger platform than a few hundred overweight Englishmen on a rickety old forum.

The moderation on here is highly questionable at the moment.

Do these pike anglers stick 90 min vids up on YouTube of the lakes they fish?

The way I see it is that if you don’t want to name/promote/whatever a venue out of respect for the locals, other anglers or whatever then don’t make a video about it and post it on YouTube. People are bound to do some digging and asking questions and that’s fine. If people don’t want to share that info then that’s also fine but you can’t moan at the people that do share that info

Why is it short sighted? This is a fishing forum isnt it? Why cant lake names be talked about? It's like we are still living in the 80's where everything is secret squirrel. If people dont want the lake to be talked about, then they wouldn't advertise them in the first place. If you do then in my view it's fair game. I genuinely wanted to know the lakes name, not to fish it, but to cross reference the korda video.
If we cant talk about a lake in a completely different country, which involves hours and hours of driving to get there, then what can we talk about?

There are levels.

It would be impossible to stick the lid back on when it comes to certain venues, especially those which have an active online presence and do not have a publicity ban. There are also certain venues which are still free of the watchful eyes of social media. Sadly, a few of these fell foul to furloughed, who wanted to find a "freebie" when many other waters were either absolutely rammed or closed due to paranoia.

I know one "freebie" which had angling banned in it's entirety because the handful who kept their nut down had their angling ruined by anglers who just could not help but start posting on forums and social media about what was in there. It's selfish. simple as that. I'm sorry, but as someone who has spent most of their life fishing these kinds of waters, it seems irrelevant to name a water until its YOUR place of solace that gets ruined due to naming them.

There is a reason Pike Anglers (worth their salt) will not name venues full stop.

People seem to forget that many pay lakes made a mint from pillaging French public lakes and rivers, so is it any wonder that both english and european anglers who want to enjoy the stock wish to keep these lakes quiet? They also seem quite content naming French waters they don't fish/will not fish anymore on public forums yet would not dare to post their pics of their "syndicates" just incase the world and his wife sticks their name down on a 7 year long waiting list...

Does this mean the end of the uk and foreign venues sections?
