In reply to Post #33 Ok cheers mate. 4 weeks to go and im panicking already! Its usually a nightmare with the coaches of French students going home but was wondering if Covid has made things even worse.

I think P&O are starting to resume out of Dover shortly so the traffic should go soon as I’m out there in 5 weeks tho going by train
|
|

Anyone travelled out of Dover recently? Is the M20 still a mess and what were the queues and waiting time like at Dover? Im off in 4 weeks and want to know if i need to leave home earlier.

France are now allowing unvaccinated travellers (as are Greece & Portugal I believe). I will be going there myself, unvaxxed, in a few weeks.

A guy at work was 100% adamant he wasn’t getting any jabs
Until his misses wanted to go to Jamaica at Christmas so if people want to go fishing in Europe they should be prepared to either get the jab or suffer the consequences

In reply to Post #26 It sounds to me quite stupid. Can't you fish being unvaccinated? Whom could you harm that way? It's been a while since you've created this thread. Has anything changed since then?

Travel update for those transiting through France
The French government has updated the travel rules applied since 28 December 2021.
Passengers travelling from the UK, with residency permits for other EU countries under the Withdrawal Agreement, can now transit through France to return to their homes. This is subject to their journey to the UK having been completed before the 28th December 2021.
This new rule comes into force immediately.

In reply to Post #18 This is much the same as last year when only those with a compelling reason are allowed into the Country. With Covid running riot at the moment all Counties are taking drastic action but it will be back to normal once the infection figures settle down.

In reply to Post #15 URGENT UPDATE FOR BRITISH RESIDENTS IN EU
Following a French Government decision, on 28/12/2021, unless they hold French residency, British citizens are now considered 3rd country citizens and can no longer transit France by road to reach their country of residence in the EU.
We're very sorry we're unable to answer individual questions regarding the new requirements. Please see the French embassy website if you have any questions: http://ow.ly/XMFq50HktBx

In reply to Post #14 Show where? You are allowed to tavel to Holland and there is no border on roads... Being stopped later in France is another matter... Risk probably not worth it but that is on each indivudual to decide but than again why travel to Holland in first place if transit gets you direct in France.

In reply to Post #13 From the UK embassy site.
3. Can I travel through France to visit another country ?
Whatever your nationality, you are permitted to travel through France via the international zone of an airport (connecting between two flights) for a maximum of 24 hours.
If you are a European Union national, you are permitted to travel to your main residence, in France or another European Union country. Your partner (spouse, PACS partner, cohabiter) and your children are permitted to travel with you, whatever their nationality. At the border you will have to be capable of showing evidence of your main residence.

In reply to Post #13 I know that, the same thing applies to France e.g. 24 hour transit paperwork with say end destination of Spain, but I think you will need to show that if your end destination is France (via Holland) you will need a good reason to get into France, not worth the cost, effort or risk!

In reply to Post #12 Not for transit.

In reply to Post #11 Travellers aged 13 and over from very high-risk areas, including the UK, must quarantine for 10 days. This is regardless of vaccination status and applies to travellers arriving by all means of transportation. All passengers arriving in the Netherlands must carry a completed quarantine declaration form.

In reply to Post #10 Is there anything stopping you getting ferry from Harwich to Hook of Holland and then driving into France ? As far as I'm aware you can still get into Holland and no firm boarders into France ?
Only issue I could see would be if French police were stopping UK plated vehicles ?

In reply to Post #9 Yep, I think you are right, Jim. I guess we will have to get used to travel restrictions cropping up as each new variant brings fresh alarms and fears.
Still, at least we can celebrate the £/€ rate is up, as too is the FTSE 100, so it's not all bad!
Happy Christmas to all carping wanderers wherever you are headed.

In reply to Post #8 I like to think that the borders will be open once more by the time the carp fishing season gets underway.

In reply to Post #7 TRAVELLING FROM THE UK TO FRANCE
1. Travelling from the UK to France
LAST MINUTE :
⚠️ From the morning of Saturday 18 December 2021 (0.00) onwards, the following rules will apply to all people travelling from the United Kingdom, whether or not they are vaccinated:
Both non-vaccinated and vaccinated people will be required to have a compelling reason to travel to or from the UK. These reasons will be listed in the annex and at the following address: https://www.interieur.gouv.fr/Actualites/L-actu-du-Ministere/Attestation-de-deplacement-et-de-voyage. People will not be permitted to travel as tourists or for professional reasons. Being French is a compelling reason to return to France. French people’s partners (spouses, PACS partners or cohabiting partners (on presentation of proof of cohabitation)) and their children will still be able to travel to France.
Vaccinated people will have to present on departure a negative PCR or TAG test less than 24 hours old.
Before they travel, anyone coming from the UK will be required to register on a digital platform allowing them, among other things, to state the address for their stay in France. This platform will generate prefectoral orders requiring all non-vaccinated and vaccinated travellers to isolate in their chosen place. This requirement to isolate can be lifted after 48 hours, on condition that a negative PCR or TAG test is proven.
Checks will be organized to ensure these measures are properly implemented.
The Government also calls on people who were planning to travel to the UK to postpone their trips.
N.B. Self-administered tests whose results are not certified by a laboratory (e.g. free tests provided by the NHS) are not authorized for travel. The NHS has stated that it will not carry out any tests for the purposes of travel. People should therefore use private organizations providing a similar service. No specific tests exist which are linked to the new variant identified.
Pre-departure tests carried out on French territory may be used for your return to France if they comply with the time criteria (less than 24 hours old) and contain the necessary information (type of test, date and time, name of laboratory, your full name and date of birth etc.).
N.B. We also strongly advise you to contact your travel operator to find out more about their travel requirements.

Are you allowed to transit through. Or is it just a strict no travel whatsoever?
Tried looking on the French site but it's hard to work out ( for me)
