Go in with paste, either a wrap over a wafter etc or paste bales on stringers or thrown etc around the hookbait

So many factors here... different bases of flavours, water temperature, stock etc... Many times they dont work but many times they do give that extra fish or quick bite.

If I use attractor bait shelfies, it is a maximum of a stringer round the hookbait, and relying on the 'higher' flavour level as an attractor to get the fish to pick the bait up.

I have seen carp refuse and avoid hi-attract pop-ups, even when fished close to the bottom (think you will know what I mean).

I totally understand what you are saying about highly flavoured baits, although I think there may be some differentiation between natural flavours and chemical attractors.

ive found that over highly flavoured baits actually go against you during short sessions

As Frenzy has said, on short session fishing location is more important.

You could use pretty much any shelf life boilie, many are attractor baits, as long as you put it in front of the fish.
Yes a good food value bait, prebaited will work for you, but I know this is not always possible on waters miles away from home.
Don't overbait with attractor bait boilies, 5 or 6 on a stringer or around the hookbait may be enough.

Get the fish feeding, be that over pellet, groundbait, (Vitalin is a good base), or particles, and fish your boilies on the hook.
You are trying to create pre-occupation that the fish just suck in or pick up your hookbait.

The most effective short session approach revolves around pre baiting - its the biggest edge.

Exactly that for me, make the bait do the work for you

As for maximum attraction, it’s quite simple, boiled baits bound with egg in a few million galllons of water, you could look at them like a needle in a haystack, stock density etc

You can make your spot work instantly with a stick mix, groundbaits, boilie crumb bound with a good hydro or oil combo etc, you can then add pellets of various sizes to control and prolong the breakdown rates, broken boilies, wrap your baits in paste, squeeze micro pelllets into the outer skin, no egg baits, quick dissolvers, the list is endless when you think about it

I grind up 5 kg of CLO at a time and store it in a sealed bag. Then add bit-by-bit enough powder to 6 eggs to get a soft paste. A dessertspoon of water is plenty to plasticise it. If it's a bit sticky at first, wait several minutes for it to firm-up. Boiling depends on the size. I make 14mm and boil for 1.5 minutes.

I make my own and it's really simple. Just grind CLO, (British Aqua Feeds), in a blender to make it finer. Put your flavours in the eggs and mix. Add a little water to plasticise it to make rolling easier. It has a open texture which allows the flavours to come out. I've found that adding other binders eg semolina, albumen etc reduces it's effectiveness.

Thanks for your intervention.
I want to use a 50/50 mixture with 15-20% tiger nuts coarse meal and a liquid part of 100 ml of pre-digested and a little flavour. Does anyone a good mix of nuts or bordfoods for short fishing seasions? Tested. Thanks.

I only fish short sessions and all boilie. My approach has been to use a no frills fm base mix with plenty of coarse seed to open the texture. I keep liquids at around 50ml/kg but replace half the liquid egg with water and boil for 2 minsh. What you tend to end up with is a very porous and pretty crumbly bait that's also cooked through and if allowed to dry for 12 hrs will soak up lake water like a sponge... If you can get away with fairly close range fishing then hydrating the baits until they can absorb any more water is even better (thanks T-carper for the heads up)...
