That's incorrect. From the 4th October you do not need to do a pre departure test if you are vaccinated but you will still need to do a 2 day PCR test this will change if you are vaccinated to a latral flow test at the end of October no date set as yet

No return test required from 4th Oct
PCR day 2 test still required until an unspecified date in late October then will move to lateral flow test

I only had a quick look but read no test departing from abroad to come home from a green country but you do need to take a lateral Flow test once home.
If that shows positive you then get a free pcr test from the nhs
But I've not ready properly

It has been made today, as I understand it no requirement to take a test on your return back to the UK from a non red country, sounds great, import the virus and bring on the next lockdown!!

Its strange with the travel list as there is never a set date or method for announcing.
They don't have a press conference but generally just release the info on a tweet with a link to the government website.
They are generally every 3 weeks, with tomorrow being the date it would be expected. The rule change generally follow the week after.
However with the current cabinet re-shuffle going on, there may be a chance that it is pushed back a few days.

Wait until next week or even while you're out there
Return home test in a france pharmacy is around 26 euro
You can order the day 2 test while in France, as long as you have the reference before filling in the passenger locator form up to 48 hours before coming home. IF you still need to be filling it out.
Nothing to lose by waiting

Off to France September 25th for a week reading good chance rules going to change and covid pcr tests going to be scraped if you where me do I order tests today as need to do the test out there and then 2nd day back test or do I wait and see thanks
