The 100 post thing is a good thing and quite right.

Unfortunately the classifieds aren’t what they used to be. This forum is way quieter than it used to be and that is reflected in the amount of classified threads, lucky to get a couple a day sometimes. Still worth looking at though and the first section I look at when I visit.

Thanks for the feedback, 100 posts it is As I said it was just a suggestion based on my own paranoia that I'm missing out on some bargains but nearly a fifth of the way there now

I have a slight inkling the bloke running the site might have a small clue what he's doing ...
I've been on here 15 years or so and a mod for 13 or 14 of those and I don't recall there ever being a data breach.
I reckon you'll be alright .

Yes I’ve read that.
Presumably the padlock is just a certificate that can be bought but this forum is the only one I contribute to without one and also the only one I get ads popping up mid screen when my iPad says they are turned off.
No doubt the two things aren’t connected and probably not relevant but things like that make me uneasy.

I’ve no problem with the 100 posts and I think it’s a possibly a good plan.
However what I personally don’t like is putting my contact details on an unsecured site.

The rule has been in place since Oct 2007 and as far as I am aware it has worked out fine.

There has, in the past been members granted access 'early' but they are few and far between.

You just need to look @ the activity from scammers on FB to understand the 100 post rule buddy.

Why is the post count so high before you can access the classified section?
I understand that you wouldn't want people joining the forum just to try to sell their gear but 100 posts seems excessive, especially for a buyer. As a relative newbie there's plenty of gear I need (want!) to buy and the forum classifieds would seem like the ideal place to look but by the time I get to 100 'meaningful' posts I'll probably have acquired it all elsewhere!
Wouldn't 20 posts still be a deterrent to the casual seller but achievable for genuine new members?

Just my 2ps worth
