Which scenario would you get more personal satisfaction from?
Scenario 1:
Get recommended a bait, told to use the latest fandango rig, told there's a gravel spot at 52 yards from swim X where the biggun gets caught every spring - catch the biggun within an hour of casitng out on your first session.
Scenario 2:
Spend a few weeks learning the lake. Getting up early and watching the water, figuring out where they like to be, walking the lake a couple of times a week, perhaps getting some bait going on a couple of likely looking spots. Racking up a few blanks as you go, but slowly start to unpick the puzzle and improve your catch rate, catching the odd biggun along the way.
I know which I would choose

My biggest tip is major on the Summer months.
Plenty of scantily clad titty walking through the park when it's sunny. After dark, not so good..........

Blimey I used to fish this lake over 50 years ago as a kid, my dream was one day to fish the 'Main Bank' where the older and far wiser anglers fished, alas it was not meant to be as moved on to mopeds as I became of age to fish it

Pre 🎫 ticket Research, do your homework.
Whatever people call it, Nowadays is it Educate, or have it put on a plate....
Any water, total stock is X, certain target ‘chunk’ ‘scaley banger’ of choice 20/30/40/50lb, yeah fish this swim, this many wraps, cast to tall tree... personally it sort of takes the shine off it for me.
How did people ever suss out a new/unknown water before social media, eh ?
Just fish it blind. Bigger buzz. Work it out as you go. Just enjoy. Walk, look, listen, and savour the learning curve & mistakes first hand.

I thought it was normal to educate ourselves before fishing a new water but yes I'll be whipping the marker rod out on arrival
I'm not sure on the stock either but have been told 1 or 2 30s
