Put the silicone on the hook first, pass a fine baiting needle through and pull your hook link back through with the needle. There is absolutely no chance of snagging anything and it is loads quicker and easier

Why not use shrink tube to fix the hair on the hook?

It's very simple to do and never snags if you do it right. After you have threaded the braid through the small piece of tubing, pull the braid tight between finger and thumb at the points where it enters and exits the piece of tubing which should also then be pulled up tight against the tips of your finger and thumb. This has the effect of pulling the braid tight and up against the wall of the tubing inside. Once done, just carefully push the hook point through on the other side of the tubing to the braid.

I do the same method as in post #3 when using coated braid or if using supple uncoated braid I put the silicone on the hook first and then pull the braid through with a micro splicing needle.

If using coated braid do it at the coating area not the supple braid area. Them just slide it down to suit

I found do it near the top part of the hooklength is easier as if it catches I have around 9 or 10 inches of good hooklink left then just slide it down

Looking to trap the hair on the hook with some silicone tubing but every time I try to pass the hook through the tubing after getting it on the braid the hook point keeps catching on the braid and by the time I've got it through the rubber silicone is damaged. I'm using Korda 0.5 x 0.25 with a size 6 hook. Anyone recommend any other makes? Thanks.
