Anyone got any info on BAF's German branch that was supposed to be opening late June?

In reply to Post #17 I’m still waiting for zig floats ordered a month ago from Angling Direct Fr.
Maybe I’m just unlucky, or taken for a fool. I ordered rig putty from Peche Promo (FishDeal) where the P&P cost more than the item. Then it turned up in this:
I thought us anglers were meant to be conservationists

Last Tuesday I ordered an avid basecamp weighing 18.4 kilo from angling direct.fr. It arrived in 7 days. Free postage and no surcharge or customs charges. Guarantees are in the terms and conditions. Around 100 euros plus cheaper than anywhere else. Will definitely order from them again. I live in the center of France.

In reply to Post #1 I skip the UK bait & tackle shops now.
A pitty, but don't want to risk extra costs etc.
I fished a long time with English bait.
Most deliveries come from NL now.

In reply to Post #1 I'm English but based in NL for the last 30yrs. It's a nightmare now - no bait deliveries as far as I know since Brexit. Sticky, Angling Direct, BAF all suspended delivery as cost, paperwork (vet sign off containers) has rocketed. It's the same admin for one bag of boilies as a container load at the mo'. Same story from main tackle shops here (they can't get UK made bait currently). But..I know bigger companies and Angling Trust are lobbying government.
Solution would be to for UK to align 'food standards' with EU as they were 31/12/20 but...UK wants a trade deal with USA..and EU alignment may affect that (not my opinion, editor of The Economist, R4, Bottom Line here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000sz9b
And delivery from UK is a joke..customs costs, courier costs & like someone said...quicker from China by carrier pigeon at the moment.

In reply to Post #13 I now buy fishing related items from either Germany of Holland and find service fast and reliable.

Non fishing related but I purchased a item from Holland a couple of months ago and it arrived in less than a week and no extra costs 👍👍

In reply to Post #11 Prior to Brexit buying from the UK was a cinch. Often delivery would be quicker than ordering from a French source however we now have given up on UK purchases due to time delays and extra cost.

I’ve only been living in France since January so I don’t know what it was like pre-Brexit, but it’s a mare, I’m receiving stuff quicker from China.
Angling Direct advertise as .fr but all their stocks in the UK. I won’t be using them again.

In reply to Post #6 Correct. I popped into see Andy and get bait last week. He still gets some ingredients from Haiths as they are EU approved. I think he said 43 flavours meet EU regulations now.

In reply to Post #7 Without trying to sound like I'm premoting them I think he listed them all on their fb page so might be worth a look.

In reply to Post #6 That's interesting, thanks.

There's an English fella who owns Union Jack baits in France and I think he said out of over 140 flavours he used to be able to buy only 40 or so have been approved by the EU which he's still been able to purchase from the UK, not sure which company he buys from though.
