In reply to Post #6 Cheap for a reason. Is this a wind up. Amnesia is miles better than iQ which doesn't knot that good. Amnesia also is a very good shock leader. Cheap for a reason I'll sell you some pellets overspary them with cheap flavour and sell it you at 50 times price. Bit like nearly every bait manufacturer does.

In reply to Post #28 That's what I use most of the time, I think the posh name for it is the 'Mahin'

In reply to Post #23 If you use what I call the shockleader knot, an overhand knot in the Amnesia, mainline through the overhand then Uni knot that down the Amnesia, a soft 8mm rubber bead will pass over it. A ring swivel can also slide over the knot.
I use the same knot for combi-rigs, with coated or uncoated braid.
I can't do pictures, but I did find this:
Shockleader knot.
I tend to lighter tag the loose end of the Amnesia to stop it slipping.

In reply to Post #25 15 or 20 . . both are easy to whip and create a solid D . . .

In reply to Post #22 Wanted leader of about 1m, as gravel bars present, also hides better than tubing.

In reply to Post #24 What breaking strain for d rigs ?

In reply to Post #1 . . don't rate IQ - have had the 15lb strain part on me for no reason other than it felt like it . . mid hooklink as well (not at the knot)
Amnesia is a good product in terms of bullet proof reliability but if you want a reliable fluro for hooklinks / booms I can only recommend Rigmarole CamH20 in any b/strain. Also has memory, so you can kink and then stretch at your leisure . . .

In reply to Post #20 Tying onto 25lb amnesia as a leader is going to make quite a large top knot, id have concerns about how safe a rig would be even if dumping the lead.
How would you go about setting it up.

In reply to Post #20 I used to use the safe zone leaders ,but all leaders now banned where I fish. So back to tubing. If you want to use a leader then the safe zone ones are really thick and 30lb b.s. so why not use 30lb Amnesia. Is there a specific reason why you want to use a leader and are avoiding tubing?

In reply to Post #20 Not sure about that one mate. I know that braid is obviously quite bad if used at a thin diameter, it can cut into the fish and lift scales, but am unsure about mono. I'm going to take a guess here and say that maybe a thicker mono is safer for the fish maybe? But also, you don't need to use a leader after all. In some situations you can just be rid of it and you'll be fine. Some people have fallen for the trap of that they have to use a leader, when there is pretty much no use for it in some situations! Of course you need them when say snag fishing ect, but simple rigs will catch you fish, and create less hassle when tying up your setup. Plus it is safer for the fish if you dont use a leader.

In reply to Post #19 I wanted to use amnesia as leader instead of the fused leaders, so wondering if 25lb amnesia is the size to buy. I don't want to get criticised for scale lifting etc.

In reply to Post #17 Ive used these once, quite thick but I guess that is down to it being a 30lb breaking strain with some sort of abrasion resistant coating. So as a snag leader or as a general leader they are good, and you can use them multiple times. A downside is though as has been mentioned, they are quite pricey just for one 1m leader. Are you planning on using the 25lb amnesia as a leader? Not sure about the diameter of the leader, but they are thick, maybe 0.40+. Don't take that for granted though, as I do not have them now and and just giving an educated guess from my experience of using them!

In reply to Post #11 Out of curiosity, any idea of diameter of say the korda leaders, ie: dark matter ring swivel leader and help leaders? Wondering what the difference is between 25lb amnesia and the korda leaders

In reply to Post #15 Why not buy some 15lb Amnesia then?
