I had been watching on ebay a set of THREE Shimano 6000 XTEA Baitrunners BOXED NEVER SEEN THE BANK BRAND NEW ! these reels were bought and then fitted by tackle box with flashy handles and new improved bail arms these were bought for a Redmire trip but it fell thru and they got put in the back of the garage and stayed there till now
and I just bought them as you told me I deserve a bit of a treat

In reply to Post #14 Sounds like you deserve a bit of a treat at the minute OG, and that one won’t break the bank. Will be interesting to hear how you compare a modern budget rod to some of the older top end ones you’ve had.

I was weak and in Bank holiday bargain hunting mode and 5 mins to Midnight on Monday
I crumbled and bought a pair of Daiwa Vertice Carp Rods 10ft 3lb at £45.89 a pop
I certainly did not need them but I wanted them and it will be fun trying them I will use my Shimano XTEA 800s with 600 spools on for the tidal trent when its got a bit of water on

In reply to Post #1 considerably bigger spool on the Inc 6000's than the 5010 baitrunners .... I have 5000 baitrunners and Inc6000's .... both excellent reels and i prefer the 5000 baitrunners on my 8ft rods and the Inc6000's on 10ft rods

In reply to Post #1 On 2.25 TC Rods, on small waters, I'd say the Inc 6000 is too big\heavy.
I've got one, but woudn't use it in your scenario. I'd use Barbel\Spinner sized reel e.g. Daiwa GS 3000-4000.

In reply to Post #5 They are very good reels BUT there was an issue on all 3 of mine from new where the anti-reverse doesn't always kick in when it should. I like them so much and could see there were no others in stock that I felt it was worth trying to fix the problem, for anyone experiencing the same problem there is a solution - but its a faff.
The issue lies with the tiny spring under the spool that pulls the locking mechanism (plastic wedge) back into place, its simply not strong enough and doesn't always lock it in. This is a known issue on other Okuma models and a quick google brought up a guy in the States who had modified/changed the spring to a stronger one. First up was an e mail to Okuma to explain and ask for better springs - no response at all sadly. I have sourced some springs myself and replaced them with a thicker gauge wire spring that required a little modification. Now the anti-reverse kicks in everytime without fail. If anyone wants a step by step then PM me and I will try and help.

In reply to Post #7 I've just got a set for my 10ft rods fantastic reels
They just seem a bit stiff when winding, hopefully once there spooled up should be smoother..

In reply to Post #4 Whats your opinion of the LS-6K Baitrunners ?

In reply to Post #1 I've just got a pair of Okuma Inc 6000s for my 10' rods.
They certainly look as though they are punching above their weight for about £50 a reel.

My oldest son,has a set,as does his friend..those inc6000 are brilliant, really good,I want a set ,but my titanos xsa 4500,are still mint..
Okuma reels in general are great...I got Sheffield pin,..jaw,and another bomb, feeder reel all faultless..
I dont need anything at all,but when I do ,shall look at Okuma straight away.
