In reply to Post #45 Yep Farm lake has allowed us to move next weeks trip to Sept 2021...very good of them 👍...

In reply to Post #45 Great news, let's hope as the dust settles other establishments are able and willing to demonstrate this level of customer service and decency.

My trip has now been moved to hopefully a not too cold March next year. My thanks go to Vallee lakes for this

In reply to Post #43 Booked up in may for carpinvasion in Normandy hoping things might of eased by then fingers crossed

In reply to Post #42 I think they'll have a far better testing regime next year with readily available fast testing kits. Should make travel much easier.

In reply to Post #12 To be brutally honest with people I wouldn't even consider booking france even next year as this bloody virus anit going to go away we going to be like this for a few years to come with lockdowns and travel bans

In reply to Post #38 Cheers.
Yeah can understand the need for a break so sorry to hear you're missing out
You got next year booked?
|
|
|
In reply to Post #37 Good luck for the rest of your trip.
Guess I’m just a little bitter and disappointed.
I work for the NHS Been working all through Covid and needed the time away.

|
|
In reply to Post #36 I wouldn't argue with that to be fair
The only consolation may be that the fishing has been very slow this week, last week wasn't much better but all lakes here on the complex struggling this week
|
|
|
In reply to Post #35 Plenty of fisheries not recommending that we travel from the UK and closing up shop.
You will struggle to get a booking on many of the Goncourt lakes for years to come .
So I’m sure she could either offer us a refund or booking in years to come .
|
|
|
In reply to Post #34 To be fair I wouldn't expect so
Unless the government accept that the risk is low for someone outdoors and likely very well distanced from anyone else etc.
|
|
|
In reply to Post #33 I would imagine that is valid if you are in transit like going to Italy etc... but lets put travelling aside for a moment are fisheries business that is allowed to be opened still? that is probably a bigger question...

Just been chatting to Pascale. I see both sides and not sure on it to be honest.
The French news is of lockdown with international borders expected to be mainly closed but open to the EU. Not allowed to travel from region to region but are allowed into another EU country. Just like England, there is certainly some conflicting advice.
We all know fishing is not essential travel, but that has not stopped tons of people coming to France over the last few months while the uk advice is not to travel unless essential.
Hopefully will be a bit more on the situation tomorrow but it's a flip of the coin as to if it's ok to come fishing or not. Some shops will be closing but people are still allowed to go to work if they can't work remotely, so not a major lockdown like before.

In reply to Post #29 No french lake owner should be encouraging anglers to travel to France!

In reply to Post #24 Agree I was due to arrive and fish Woods lake on Saturday .
Pascal actively encouraged me to travel I feel against the advice from the French government .
2.5 years ago I booked this trip and no chance of her moving the date.

In reply to Post #24 The video started off all ok and understandable but then quickly descended to, if you all only lose a few hundred pounds each and spread the load, she'll be ok. Was quite annoying to read when you are possibly about to lose 4.5k of money (we had 2 weeks booked for this trip)
Confirmed on the advance bookings, you'll struggle to get much choice this side of 2025

In reply to Post #25 Looking at the latest information travel is only allowed for certain categories and leisure fishing is not one of them. I have now cancelled our bookings for November as I believe that anglers will not be able to travel to us. I have also heard that van hire companies are now not prepared to rent vans for travel to France. My advice for what it is worth is not to try travelling whilst the lock down is still in place.

In reply to Post #22 'Old fellahs comment below is the current state of play.'
Yes for travel into France.....it has nothing to do with lockdown rules for non essential French businesses from tonight/tommorow
|
|
|
In reply to Post #23 Yup, my view here is that she doesn't want to have to refund or rebook that weeks anglers.
On one hand she apparently posted a teary post on fb saying she could possibly loose the place as she wasn't able to pay the lease, but have seen other posts relaying that she has stated she has plenty of bookings until 2025.
I am sure the truth is somewhere between the 2, but to actively encourage people to travel when the rest of the country is shutting down, prior to having official confirmation of the position, is in my book irresponsible, misguided and exceedingly poor customer service.

In reply to Post #20 Yeah I'm at her place now, seen a Facebook post where she says it's ok for new visitors to arrive this weekend

In reply to Post #21 Old fellahs comment below is the current state of play. Of course this is highly likely to change following the Presidents headline announcement yesterday. The Prime Minister is speaking later today with the detailed info.

In reply to Post #17 Official information below
Entry to France
Travellers arriving in France from the UK, European Area, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia and Uruguay are no longer required to self-isolate, or to demonstrate their travel is essential. Arrivals by sea and air routes will need to complete a ‘sworn statement’ (déclaration sur l’honneur) form self-certifying they are not suffering from symptoms associated with Covid19 and have not been in contact with confirmed cases in the preceding fortnight. This is available in English on the site of the French Embassy London.

In reply to Post #14 My booking was fixed for two weeks time, a few weeks ago the venue refused to move it and said people were still coming and the borders were open so you either come or you lose your money.
I'd like to think that this has now changed but we'll see today.

In reply to Post #12 Do you have any bookings for next year?
Edit: I have a trip on a mates booking for September 2021 which will be the first time I return in three and a half years, hopefully I can secure some future bookings and if so I intend to offer a booking with me to anyone on the forum as I see so many always asking how do you get a booking, maybe a chance then someone else on here if they can secure a booking can forward a similar favour to another forum member and then the tree could possibly grow.

What's the latest from France?
Addressing the nation on Wednesday, Mr Macron said that France must now "brutally apply the brakes" to avoid being "submerged by the acceleration of the epidemic".
He said that half of all intensive care beds at French hospitals were being occupied by Covid patients.
The president said that under the new rules, people would need to fill in a form to justify leaving their homes, as was required in the initial lockdown in March. Social gatherings are banned.
"Like in the spring, you will be able to leave your house only to work, for a medical appointment, to provide assistance to a relative, to shop for essential goods or to go for a walk near your house," Mr Macron said.
But he made clear that public services and factories would remain open, adding that the economy "must not stop or collapse".
Mr Macron added that visits to care homes - which were banned during the two-month lockdown declared in March - would be permitted under the latest measures.
The curbs will apply until 1 December and will be reassessed every two weeks. The president said he retained "hope that families will be able to be reunited for Christmas".

French President Emmanuel Macron has announced a second national lockdown, banning travel between regions.
Mr Macron said under the new measures, starting on Friday, people will only be allowed to leave home for essential work or medical reasons.
Non-essential businesses, such as restaurants and bars, will close.
That's it then.....
Whole of november.....
