Thanks for the advice guys, tells me what I need to know to get me started. Think I'll opt for the Fox Dinky Bobbins in orange. Not the cheapest but they don't half look sexy

Just buy some cheap complete hangers, no need for any expensive if you are starting out as they won’t make any big difference in bite recognition or number of bites. The alarms screw through the hangers and they can stay on your buzz bar/pod etc.

Good luck 👍

John....If you are buying for the first time and have little experience I would recommend purchasing a complete unit.
I doubt you will make any savings buying separate items unless you buy used at auction.
There are two different threads used by manufacturers..
Solar, matrix, muddy waters, cygnet, defiant mps, are all 2BA.
Nash and Fox are a metric thread M5.
Very similar..just not compatible....you can get converters but that will just and cost and complicate things.
Some makers use a magnetic fixing for the chain to the "hockey stick", most just screw in
Most curb link chains can be removed from the fitting by drifting out the pin if you wish to shorten the chain.

Hi folks could really do with some help on this one please as its all knew to me.

Just bought a couple of second hand buzz bars and have 2 cheap alarms to fit onto them to get me started

Now I know I need hangers to stay in place so I don't have to keep taking the alarms off the buzz bars.

Is it best to buy a hanger and chain with bobbin as a set or cheaper to buy the bits seperate. Do the chains screw into the hangers? As you can tell haven't used these before.

Just need 3 cheapies to get me started. Also can the chains be shortened on them?

Looking for any advice I can get, and someone to point me in the right direction to buy some that won't cost the earth.

Thanks
John
