The amount of people that actually produce anything solely in house is very very limited. Harrison make blanks for many brands, rod builders each to there own specification, I highly doubt any of them actually made there own mandrels too they just get made something that’s of Harrison’s own doing and ok’d by the buyer. It’s a niche market he operates from, not everyone wants it and that’s ok but his bits are of the highest quality I’ve ever used, and what makes it even better, not every Tom dick and harry have dymag bits or have even heard of it. For the record too I’ve heard back from him, personal problems set back taking orders and I can accept that just fine, he’s human after all and a lovely bloke who genuinely couldn’t apologise enough when he called me.

But there is a diameter, possibly different diameter at each end thickness, tapered thickness, weight of cloth. - I am sure Dymag had to pay for several mandrels before he got it right and many different arms before he got the right design.
Time to sleep.
Thanks

And what makes the mandrel so special, its a piece of metal that carbon is wrapped around when rolling it isnt it? As i said before, surely the carbon used is far more important than the piece of metal its rolled around? Im not particularly knowledgable with this stuff, but surely there isnt much they can do to make one mandrel different to another

Hope it all goes well mate

Thanks gentlemen
Just a load of stones in my bladder trying to cut their way out cos they are too big to come the proper way!!
Getting a lazer and camera fed into my bladder in the morning - you can guess the route they are taking!!
Hopefully home in the afternoon

I agree
And I dont see my Mk 2 Dymag net as a cult net ? as some one has mentioned and I dont give a flying fig where or how it is made !

All I care about is the fact I am using the very best net on the planet IMHO
No question the most tense moment is at the landing net stage and I KNOW this net has massively helped in this process the extreme lightness and the superb rigidi arms with zero droop its a joy to use
