In reply to Post #8 Only someone who has both could comment on that. I don't so won't.
What I would just say is that my Sasquatch is like wearing a doss bag. Love it.

In reply to Post #4 I’m awaiting delivery of a standard torrent. Extreme looked to be too warm considering I’ll be walking some distances in it

In reply to Post #3 Standard Torrent is very good, very happy with mine, assume the extreme is just warmer :-)

In reply to Post #2 Thanks mate. I have the FJ6 already but fancied something warmer and waterproof. The rating on the standard torrent is the same as the FJ6 so thought the extreme would be better. Unfortunately not got anywhere near me that stocks them to try on so may have to just take a punt.
Thanks again for the info.

In reply to Post #1 Early days but it is a bulkier Torrent (if you know what one of those is like).
It is not a waterproof Sasquatch I don't think although the ratings sort of show that the Extreme is warmer I'm not sure it will be - not been cold enough yet but I did bung my Sasquatch on yesterday morning for a while and soon unzipped the thing.
Please bear in mind I am a large lump. I have a XXXL Torrent but sadly they don't make XXXL Extremes it seems but the chest measurements show that an XXL would fit me - so I bought one.
So, if you don't know what a Torrent is like. Its a waterproof insulated jacket with waterproof(ish) zips, underam ventilation (zipped), a detachable hook with a silly soft peak. It's pretty warm but it is not Sasquatch standard.
It's a very well made jacket. The back is longer than the front, it has deep, warm pockets and it isn't bad at all.
I am getting on in years and want more heat so I have an Extreme now. To be honest I haven't worn it in anger yet as we haven't had the weather (well not in Lincs/Notts). As I said, it is a bulkier Torrent. There is 50% more filling (Snugpaks Softee filling which is very warm if you haven't experienced it) so it is quite bulky. With the thickness there this thing is going to be quite a bit warmer than the Torrent. It is well made with the same underarm zipped vents, deep pockets and detachable hood (with the same soft peak). It is longer in the back and it reaches the lowest bit of my bum (just).
The maximum size is XXL which they reckon will fit a 52-55" chest. I am 53" and it is on the snug side. Any snugger and it would have been returned. Why they didn't go to XXXL as with the Torrent I don't know. Snugpaks sizings vary so you really need to try before you decide (they do state that padded clothes sizes vary on the adverts).
I love the Sasquatch - it is without doubt the warmest jacket I have ever owned and always wanted a waterproof version. The Extreme is not a waterproof Sasquatch. It is better tailored (basically it isn't a dossbag with arms) and has some serious filling in it so it should in theory be as warm. Time will tell on that score when the real cold weather arrives.
