Not scaremongering just reporting mainly on facts as I was!! Are you suggesting the UK Government are scaremongering or reacting to what is actually going on? Have you got any trips booked, if not maybe best not to comment on other people who have, they risk losing a holiday or money or both, if you have booked a trip then apologies, feel free to comment!

I never said anything about the 14 day quarantine. If you can’t go or don’t feel safe going to France, then don’t go. All I said is people read a headline and think the worse.

Loads of misinformation being spouted, including French Pay Lake owners who are claiming that you don't need to self isolate as you'll stay on the coach from Train to Lake and will be on private land unable to leave the complex at all. What he fails to mention, is they'll be in contact with him, a resident of France

Everything is done as a blanket ruling so that loopholes cannot be exploited. I.E sitting like a lemon in a tent for a week. We're being short sighted here. We account for 0.01% of those who travel through ports and airports everyday, all of whom travel from countries with varying degrees of risk. They don't give a monkies that you sat in a tent for a week, they cannot prove it, You cannot prove it. All they see is you travelled from France. That's it. 14 days, have a great time.

No point lying on the form neither, your passport is tracked, and people ARE being fined (probably keeping their nut down out of embarrassment)

As for the 14 day rule, of course you can isolate for less than that. It covers the period of those who are transiting from one port to another, or are here on contracted work for the NHS/Local Authorities.

Oh, and as for "essential workers", those who are first time visitors from Ukraine coming here to jump on a cargo ship, or Indian Nurses working in the NHS are classed as essential workers. You going on a jolly up in France and then coming back to stack shelves isn't in the same category.

Sorry but regardless of what ever spin is put on these figures there are just two facts that apply to all of us that have trips booked to France.
1) there will be a 14 day quarantine on return to the UK.
2) the Foreign Office advise against travel to France unless for essential reasons. This means that for the vast majority your travel and medical insurance will be invalid.
It is also possible that in the next few days or weeks that local lockdowns or further restrictions will occur in France and they might introduce quarantine regs for visitors from the UK.
Your decision on whether to travel or not.

But if you look carefully you will see that the area's with the worst increase in covid cases are Paris and the south of the country. Most rural area's where the popular carp lakes are situated are in the lowest category of infection.

This is the problem, people just read the headline and not the full story. Scaremongering at its best.

Death rates down. Hospital admissions down. ICU numbers down. More testing now so larger numbers of positive test results will emerge. France were testing around 80,000 a week at the height of the pandemic, it's now 800,000.

Over 20 regions now with red category, could well be another full lockdown, have you seen the number of cases lately? Now up to a level not seen since the 31 March, worrying, no doubt we will soon be following the same course.

There is no differance between England and France having a full lockdown Macron is not calling for a full lockdown, here in France, it is no differant than to England, LOCAL LOCKDOWNS, Certain departments have restrictions on movement etc, but are not locked down.

It appears that the France is now not ruling out another lockdown as their Covid numbers are spiralling..
