In reply to Post #5 “I'd be really surprised if I ever got black listed from any syndicate seeing as I'm not a pest, rule breaker, do drugs or drink. That clean I squeak”
Bet you’re a hoot at parties

In reply to Post #18 That last bit you mention is a good idea. Keeps the Muppets away that spoil things for the rest.
You're right about knowing others that can forward you. Got a few irons in the fire so to speak at the moment.

In reply to Post #1 A lot of syndicates won’t even consider you based on a ‘cold’ enquiry. If they can fill the quota year after year with existing members or mates/recommendations from existing members then they often won’t entertain someone who randomly enquires, regardless of how squeaky clean you might be. Best bet is to get to know other anglers through where you usually fish, more often than not people will have tickets elsewhere and as long as you’re not a pr*ck most people will help a guy out with a recommendation.
To be honest I get it. You could let someone join who knows nobody, they could be a nightmare and you end up losing loyal members as a result.
One lake I know has a rule that if you f*ck up, both you and the member who recommended you gets banned. Good way to make sure all proposed members are decent blokes.

In reply to Post #15 Bloody annoying that bods jumping the list.
For some mad reason, I put my name down for the RK fisheries Black Card. Don't know why, just fancied it. Got put on the list, think it was 2014 or 2015. Anyways, not heard a peep about it, not that I'm that interested in it. Wouldn't mind fishing Wrasbury No: 2 again though, well apart from the planes. Did my nut in in the 90's

In reply to Post #14 Yeah mate - most are closed for the foreseeable….Dinton, CWA, Wasing, AA, Yateley e.t.c….
Superstars always manage to jump the queues though, keeps the water in the frame across social media..
Price hikes are inevitable, owners know that anglers will stump up and pay. Most will be 1-2k + over the next couple of seasons.

In reply to Post #13 Is 10 years plus normal around your way then? I can understand longer waiting lists due to this Covid thing - my current syndicate has a long waiting list due to Covid and people having loads of time off.
I was going to join that Grenville Lake syndicate. I spoke to the bloke who wanted me to give him £300 to put me on the list, which if the syndicate lost say 15 people a year, I'd be on that list for 10 years. Currently it's £1,800 a year and rises every year. Anyway, didn't meet up with the guy as I investigated it more thoroughly and it turns up its got 1800 plus fish in 75 acres. Literally a turkey shoot. Crawling with them. Not my thing at all. Catching a 40lber out of there isn't any achievement, its like catching a 20lber anywhere else. Should be called Nodsville.
The likes of Korda are squarely to blame for the rise in people specifically looking to catch carp, hence long waiting lists in *normal* times.

In reply to Post #1 All rammed out now mate - 10yr + waiting lists around here, prices going up per annum significantly, working blokes slowly getting priced out. Club waters are rammed 24/7....
If you manage to get onto a decent syndicate, hold tight to that ticket or take to the old Father Thames.
Would love to see how much tackle firms are making in profit. I remember a few years back when people were saying the bubble was about to burst, that cannot be further from the truth nowadays.
I know a few guys in the bait game - they are knocking out in excess of 2 ton of bait each day, sometimes rolling twice that.
