It will depend how many are on it your week, mate.
The fish do have the annoying habit of showing up where there are no lines.
From recent catch reports the open water seems to have produced less than the bays.. That may be changing of course..

Good luck, ir is a wonderful, challenging,, place.

(I fear that my annual 2 weeks will not happen this virus laden year as I travel to fish it from the US)

cheers for replies chaps. yea im all geared up for it, done a fair bit of boat work here in the UK so all ready for that. does the whole lake usually produce or is it mainly the open water that dominates? would of thought that at the start of each week with all the prodding and boating in the main body a fair few push into the channels and bays? not hopeful of even going now got a feeling france will be added to the quarantine list by next weekend..

My first trip there was a proper learning curve. I would say the most importantly thing is to go with the right gear, I now fish using braid and large hooks due to the snags and weed. Even in the open water swims you’re never far from a weed bed. You’ll also need to make sure the rods are strapped down properly if fishing to snags.
The water clarity can differ in different parts of the lake depending on the wind. I was fishing Dead Mans and couldn’t see a thing through the Aquascope while a friend was in Roedeer and could easily see the bottom of the lake.
Have a great time, the place is addictive, can’t wait to get back there next month

Hello mate I have fished it a couple of times and have friends that also fish it regularly and I would recommend you hire a boat for the week regardless of what swim you end up in as there is quite a lot of weed, snaggy margins etc that if you want to make the most of each swim and fish with absolute confidence, feeling the lead down etc from a boat is in my opinion the only way to do it on this type of venue.

Guys there recently were suffering from a lot of floating weed that made it hard to keep rigs in place and meant regular boat trips to replace rigs and clear the weed.

If you check the catch reports on facebook that will give you an idea of the swims that are producing each week and may help you narrow down your swim choice once you have actually had a good walk round and John and Ross the bailiffs know the lake inside and out.

Its a great run venue with some cracking fish that can be challenging at times but that just makes it all the more worthwhile when that rod finally goes.

I am back there this October and again October next year and cant wait to get back.
