In reply to Post #1 I have the Tempest Composite which is between the brolly and bivvy. I'm 6 ft 2" and take my dog who has a flat day chair as a bed behind my wideboy indulgence and there is enough room and height for everything. You can open the front up as it rolls up and has press studs but no vents which is annoying.

another vote for the tempest brolly, v2 or 100T
Recently bought the V2 and infill front for a reduced price on ebay and its absolutely bang on for what i need. With the zip in front, i would happily fish in it for a week

In reply to Post #35 Mate of mine put two in a skip the other month, he had a good clearout during lockdownof old bivvies, bedchairs, unhooking mats and anything else he had accumulated over the years, I said he should of put it all on a selling site but he couldn't be arsed.

In reply to Post #26 My favourite shelter by quite a way, everything about them is perfect for how I use a shelter, the door options are brilliant with a zip straight down the centre. If the wind changes you just peg one side down and roll the other up. There were the early versions with the velcro front and no windows and then the ones with the zip on front and two windows, which is the better version imo in the VT5000 material.
The build quality was second to none, the taped seams are still intact on mine too, never let a drop of water in. People moaned about the poles breaking but its easily avoidable, its just a case of making sure the poles are in as far as they can go.
The aqua atom +10 looks similar but the door isn't the zip down the middle and I doubt they are the same quality build as the razorback..
Hopefully someone reissues them soon

In reply to Post #31 With a pioneer it can be set so it sits higher at the front. When pegging the two longest rear rear ribs
Instead of pegging them where they naturally sit on the floor and inline with the groundsheet if using one. Instead push the pegging point inwards about 2 or 3 inches. Do this on the opposite side too.
The front will naturally sit higher. Then use all the lowest pegging points and extend sticks.

Nash Titan XL for me! Small footprint for a 1.5m bivvy. Square back maximises space. Easy to set up. Love mine.

In reply to Post #30 . . .which is precisely why I like my ultralite . . .I'm 6'1" and the height of the door opening (140cms) is perfect . . .don't bash my head on the underside on exit and can get a clear view of the lake even when sitting on the bedchair with legs extended . .
Sat in the new Aqua Pioneer 100 the other day in Browns and it is stupid low at 125cms - quality of the product and thickness of material etc however is excellent . . .would only ever consider the 150 on this basis but the footprint is a bit OTT for a one man.
Why cant they just re-release the 100 in a 140cms version. . ?

In reply to Post #24 The height was the main one really and I'm only 5'8" and have a low Trakker ELS bed, well did just changed, but sat on the ELS I had to stoop to see out the thing unless I was lay down or sat on the floor, the skullcap was alright and stopped condensation directly above but the rest of the brolly would condensate real bad reminded me of the old Nash Titan wet caves, I've never fully closed a door on any bivvy even in driving rain its halfway open so the condensation shouldn't of been too bad but it was running by the mornings, I bought it on a whim really pre the 100T which is probably better at least for height from what I have read, wasn't the one for me flogged the lot to a mate no biggie some people love them and that's fine whatever suits, personally I prefer my V3 with inner capsule even with the extra setting up to the V2 brolly, I have bought a Wychwood Tactical a few months back but that hasn't been out the bag yet but at 1.4 high I'm hoping it's more suitable for me for overnight or two at most as the V3 is my longstay bivvy ie:- a week or more really.

In reply to Post #28 From what I have seen, trakker as well.
There was a post on here last week about it - I think in general chat.
Seen a few for sale that are badly faded as well, don't fancy risking it as they will not warranty replace for that reason either.

In reply to Post #26 Cheers guys, think I'm going to go with the Nash, like the look of the trakker 100T but seen a few things about them turning orange / fading recently.

In reply to Post #20 My son used my Venture Razorback last week. First time it's been up for ages as I have a v1 Tempest I use.
Forgot how good it was, will definitely be using it again myself soon!

In reply to Post #23 The Tempest 100T sounds so much better ?

In reply to Post #23 What didn’t you like about it?
It’s the best/easiest brolly I’ve had.

Had the V2 brolly and got rid of it, probably used it half a dozen times in all the speed it went up was plus point that's about all I liked about it.

In reply to Post #2 Yep. Bought one earlier this year and used it for probably a dozen nights now and its cracking. Literally goes up in 30 seconds, couldn't recommend it any more.

In reply to Post #19 In comparision to the fast and light its bigger and bulkier , thats what i was comparing it too, its the first tempest ive ever owned so i cant compare it to any others but its a great bit of kit and a perfect shelter.

In reply to Post #17 I don't find the 100T any heavier or bulkier than my previous V2

In reply to Post #1 I have a Hide XL, Love the room in it, so much more than my Supabrolly before, No need for a bivvy now as this comfortably fits my SS3 Wideboy in with acres of room left

In reply to Post #13 Ive got a 100T im 6 ft 3 and its absolutely huge imo, the only downside is the increased weight and bulk obviously due to the extra materials and pole length, which is a good trade off really. I still use my F&L for overnighters but im beginning to sway to using the tempest all year round. I dont leave the skull cap on it so that reduces the weight and bulk again. I only really stick to the F&L becouse i tell myself its got a smaller footprint and it can fit anywhere although i suspect the footprint is pretty similar. Will have to check it out now . Going back to the point of the OP the T100 system is expensive but im pleased with it , especially as i won it.

In reply to Post #1 . . .Ultralite still hard to beat IMO . . .but then I haven't used a Tempest so can only judge it on my own experience.
Permanent & full coverage twin skin (you can leave this on), great head room, opens up in seconds, 6 pegs in job done - storm poles, infill & gsheet if the conditions dictate. Plus I still think they look nicer than most of the current bivvies out there. . .if you can pick one up with decent spreader block / intact arms they make the perfect one man shelter . . just considering whether to get Andy Army to put some rear vents in . . .

In reply to Post #1 Titan hide xl, great shelter imo.

In reply to Post #13 Think when I upgrade the v2 I’ll look at the 100t as I have thought about using army Andy for vents, but seems like overkill when I could upgrade
I’m only 5”6 so no worries on heights

In reply to Post #12 As I say, I had the V2 before buying the 100T.
I was reasonably happy with the V2, but was looking at getting a couple of vents put in by "Army Andy" as most of my fishing is done during the Summer months, including a regular trip down to France, and I know what it's like to bake on a hot day (not pleasant!!).
I got a quote for the work, was just about to send the V2 off but then the 100T was launched.
Looking at the cost of it, and comparing it to what I had already paid for the V2 and the additional cost of Andy putting the vents in, it was a no brainer.
I immediately sold the V2 together with a cheap Quest bivvy that I had purchased for the French trips, and raised enough to fund the purchase of the new 100T together with a mozzie mesh front. I already had the skull cap for the V2 which I kept, as I know it also fits the 100T.
So not only did I get the vents I wanted, but also the increased headroom, which is a big improvement over the V2.
Win/win. The timing worked out right for me for a change!!

In reply to Post #10 Get yourself the tempest 100T so much better with the rear vents and the add extra head height over the normal tempest v2 brolly
|
|
|
In reply to Post #4 If it is sat in the sun it gets pretty warm, even with just the mozzie front.
Not really a problem for me as I don't sit around in it unless it is raining.
Also I live in West Norway so it is warm like 2 days every summer.

In reply to Post #5 I was literally about to pull the trigger on a V2 & the doubt' crept in about the lack of a rear vent- only thing I'm not sold on with the 100t is the height, looks really tall in the comparison videos, but is that just because the brolly is already v low to the ground?
p.s. sorry to the OP for hijacking
|
|
|
Tempest Brolly for me. Had the V1 but got the V2 for the anti twist poles and my V1 was used to death.
Can't say I've ever missed vents, I'm only in there when the sun is down and never use a front.
|
|
|
In reply to Post #1 For an actual bivvy, the 1 man Cayman is almost perfect apart from no back vent. 2 poles, 2 joints. Just got a tempest 200 for when I take the lad but for me alone the Cayman is spot on and I don’t see any need to change it.

In reply to Post #1 Got to be a tempest I've got the v1 brolly and a utility for when I take the mrs/kids

I’ve had the hyde xl and tempest v2, Hyde wins hands down for me.
The tempest is too low and does not use the footprint anywhere near as well as the Hyde. the Hyde has a flat back so bedchair can go right to the back, the tempest has an annoying spoke sticking out in the middle.
Unless of course you are short and only fish big swims

|
|
In reply to Post #4 Sorry, I meant to say that I have the 100T.
I had the V2 before this, the 100T is much roomier, and the two vents are a boon.
I'd gladly use this instead of a bivvy.......... in fact, I sold my bivvy to help fund the purchase ot the 100T and don't think I'll be losing out any.
|
|
|
In reply to Post #3 What're your thoughts on the no rear vents? I've seen the 100t which looks higher & has vents, but still being drawn back to the brolly.
|
|
|
In reply to Post #2 I'd second that.
I love mine.
And it's roomy enough for me to live in for a week, so no need for a bivvy.

In reply to Post #1 Hard to ignore the tempest v2 brolly.
Goes up in a minute and weighs next to nothing.

Hey guys,
Looking for a smaller 1 man Bivvy for when I am on my own, my Cyfish 2 man is too large to do this easily / quickly.
Looking at the Titan hide XL, but wanted to see if any other options around the same cost (or less!)
Cheers boys
