I flew into Gatwick this morning and noticed an unexpected advantage of mask wearing. They offer almost complete anonymity when making offensive comments to strangers!
I got two 'its supposed to cover your nose too, ****er' and one 'sit down, ********' in this morning, and their 'who said that?' looks were brilliant.

"The UK government declassified the virus in March into a lesser harmful group"
IIRC that was done to change the PPE requirement. The reasons for that are well known.

Well said

I guess Manchester police see it as a scam, that why they are declaring an alert , same as others that are looking for potential lockdown areas

A major incident has been declared by authorities in Greater Manchester following recent rises in coronavirus infection rates.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the decision was taken to help agencies respond "as effectively as possible", including with extra resources.

People "should not be alarmed" by the news as it was "standard practice", Manchester City Council said.

Greater Manchester is one of the areas subject to new lockdown measures.

The new restrictions announced on Thursday - that also apply in east Lancashire and parts of West Yorkshire - ban separate households from meeting each other at home.

The new rules also ban members of two different households from mixing in pubs, restaurants and other hospitality venues, but those businesses are permitted to remain open for those visiting individually or from the same household.

Absolutely

Regardless of the stupidity of politicians, this is killing people. I'm sick of selfish morons refusing to simply act in the best interests of those around them.

There are plenty of people already regretting their decision to label this a scam, and there are grieving families who probably wished they had taken it more seriously too.

If it's to do with protecting peoples careers in office it's not working all that well.

Talking of flu then the flu season normally starts in late autumn, what with the masks, less travel and peoples awareness I wonder if we will have less flu this year?

My two pennies worth here. Do people that refuse to wear a mask expect the NHS to stop wearing them too if they are so useless??

I don't know anyone who has ever died from the flu in all my 42 years on this planet, I know 3who have died from covid. Says everything I need to know to me. The long term effects aren't known as yet, but it seems to cause irreparable lung damage to people which as a chronic asthmatic makes me very nervous. People like you who don't take this sort of thing seriously are the reason why it's going to come back with a vengeance

The UK government declassified the virus in March into a lesser harmful group. The whole Idea of lockdown was to save the NHS from failing, which it never did, likewise none of the new emergency hospitals got used. The lockdown was not to protect you.....it was to protect the politicians careers from going down the pan if they were seen to have ****ed this up and the hospitals were inundated with dying victims.

the Government guess on death rates is about as accurate as my casting after 10 pints, 90% of the deaths are people who are very old or with serious health condition ...or have poor immune systems for some reason or another.

A massive majority of infections are asymptomatic ....

here's the best bit....

the nearest thing we have to compare it to is Influenza.

On Direct Gov there is the winter flu reports going back X amount of years, very interesting reading - Google it..... During Feb / March each year according to the governments very own report....the confirmed cases peak around 30 people per 100,000.....That's with an average of 50 to 60% of the population having taken the vaccine offered to them in the autumn.
The current infection rate for Covid is 14 People per 100,000 - NO VACCINE

So why every year are we not mandating masks or face covering to protect all our elderly people and care home ladies and gents.... ?

The Media have ****ing brainwashed most of the globe into thinking this a seriously dangerous virus, where actually your more likely to catch flu....every year of your life.

The decision making process on this 5 months in is shameful, its literally based around how to protect the careers of the people in office, the politicians, the so called health experts, the NHS chiefs etc etc. Wearing masks is **** all to do with protecting me or you or anybody. its about protecting people being shamed and ruined by the Global Media paltforms.

rather than 'im not ill' ...'I'm not professionally diagnosed' may be more appropriate!?
