Same on the way back, I managed to get onto 2 ferries earlier than I'd booked, car deck only half full again and few passengers. Not much traffic at the port either. Another free meal breakfast which is equally as poor as the p and o o e but it's free...

In reply to Post #44 I used dfds and it was way quieter than normal, the car deck was only half full
In reply to Post #42 Exactly the same as normal, boat still pretty busy on both crossings near enough full according to one of the P&O guys on board, people just keeping further apart and plenty of stair ways open
In reply to Post #42 They aren't busy at all so no big crowds on the stairs anymore
In reply to Post #41 What's the drill for disembarking?
Those stairs are usually rammed with folk

In reply to Post #40 I went out on the 24th July and returned yesterday on PO Dover calais, no problems at all, apart from wearing masks on boat everything was functioning as normal, they limited the amount of people in the duty free shop at any one time but otherwise all good
In reply to Post #38 No, filled out an online version and that was it, i suppose if you got a tug by customs coming off the ferry at dover they may ask for it

Ferry was very quiet this morning, half full at most. We were given a free meal and drink for some reason too, it was bloody awful unfortunately. Boarding and getting off at the other end were very quick, and masks were compulsory for inside the shops and bars. The shop did only open for half an hour though.

In reply to Post #37 Did anybody actually take the form off you?
In reply to Post #32 Had to fill a form out on return, didn't realise till the English customs guy on the French side asked, you can do it online at the gov web site, he gave us a sheet with details on, return ferry was almost empty.

In reply to Post #31 Please leave your toys at home.
I was asking about your experiences on the ferries not an example of one's IQ or petty squabbling.
Please lock this thread if this negative behavior continues.

In reply to Post #27 You can dislike my thoughts and opinions as much as you like chap, as for appearance, you have no idea what my appearance is. And I believe you are drunk, well because you are. I'm sure the tesco just over the road from your house does a roaring booze trade when you are home....
In reply to Post #24 why do you believe im drunk? cant a man dislike like someones thoughts, opinions & appearance without being called a drunk.
believe it or not some men are capable of expressing dislike without the aid of alcohol, some men are passive like you .

In reply to Post #23 Good for you chap. You are wrong though, I'd hazard a guess that I fish considerably more than you do. I'd imagine it's quite difficult to fish whilst you are hammered, no?
Oh my reply took a while because I was busy prepping my gear ready for a france trip next week. Booze is cheap out there so you should give it a go, you'd love it

In reply to Post #8 It isn´t relevant at the moment unless you are coming home from Spain after midnight tonight. Quarantine rules were lifted a few weeks ago for people returning from France, but based on what has happened today re Spain, it might change. This might help in advance unless they change things https://www.gov.uk/provide-journey-contact-details-before-travel-uk

In reply to Post #6 Your prices are bloody expensive anyway though....
In reply to Post #4 Could someone elaborate on what the "passenger locator form" is please?!
In reply to Post #6 went last week on DFDS and all was fine, given voucher for free meal at check in, shop was open for about half hour and facemask was needed to get in, most people were wearing them anyway and think they are actually required but there were some without them.

In reply to Post #5 Due to social distancing P&O have only half capacity onboard so it should seem quite empty. The shops, bars and restaurants are open (restaurant is different service) but the Brasserie is closed. They are still only running about 50% of their daily crossings and with 50% onboard capacity there is very limited availability. Maybe with 50% onboard capacity that is why their direct prices have nearly doubled. Ours still remain the same as they were at the start of the year.

On the P&O crossing to calais now
Seems absolutely fine, I’d say there was a lot less people than normal, loads of seating available for everyone and people are nicely spread out.
The bar is open in the family lounge selling packaged food, hot / cold drinks & beer
I’m not sure if the brasserie is open we headed straight to the lounge.
Overall not too bad at all and a lot better than I expected

In reply to Post #1 I travelled Brittany ferries Plymouth- roscoff and returned Caen- Portsmouth last week. All pretty much straight forward. Masks worn in public areas. Asked to stay in cabin as much as poss. Bars and restaurants open but every other table cordoned off. Stick to the floor markings like in Tesco etc. Quietest I have ever found the ferries personally. Colour coded disembarking they call your colour and you go to the vehicle deck. Mo queuing in the stairwells. On return home asked for the passenger locator form which they just wanted a copy of at the uk border. Just flashed a copy of it in my phone they didn’t want to read it. Just a word of warning though as I was leaving there was talk of parts of Brittany going back into some sort of lockdown as numbers were in the way up. Good luck.

Hi.
Three of us are due out 14th August on the ferry
Are the shops, bar etc open?
Is it a "horrible" experience with masks, sprays "little Hitlers" giving orders.
What's it like getting on and off. Those stairways are usually rammed.
Cheers Mike
