They are talking about the Spodcast though I think where the interviewer is Dominic Eves

The interviewer is Dave Elyatt - who heads up ESP and is a great angler in his own right.

I enjoyed it a lot. Very humble, which should be expected from someone who has had his battles and learned/recovered from them.

Finally got round to watching this, good vid and seems like a nice lad. Beautiful fish and well done to him for getting through his issues and succeeding, all some people want to do is find the negative in anything but that’s an unfortunate thing that is prevalent with social media and with anyone that puts themselves out there.

Not quite a Tel vid, but enjoyable.

Hopefully his honesty will raise awareness.

The sad thing is that it’s self inflicted and the negative effects may be with him for years.

Pity the interviewer wouldn't stop rambling on but good listen. Anxiety is a horrible debilitating thing.

I don’t see any negativity here, far from it. I see a lot of support and respect for the lad. Big up to him.

Not being negative mate, just saying that I think smoking weed can effect your mental health, it did me.

He used to fish over Walthamstow a lot and even as a very young lad he could catch them.
The lads he fished with including Sambo swimmer on here are exceptional at that style of angling.

We’re doing a night over there and Alfie would have been 14 maybe 15 and I got talking to him about smoking weed and he shrugged his shoulders and said he’d packed it in 2 years ago !

He went off to fish a swim he’d been putting some bait in and came running back an hour later claiming to have seen a ghost 😳

I don't really like watching fishing videos but had a watch of this and got the lad. Good angler in the making regardless of his issues, real or perceived. Understands how to hunt fish with limited time that aren't behind fences.
Proper carp the red one

as an ex smoker, and having known many heavy smokers over the years, I have no doubt whatsoever that smoking weed in high volumes for long periods of time can have a massive effect on your mental health.

Hung around with a lot of heavy weed smokers from a very young age probably had a lot to do with it

I think he came across really well, was very articulate, and to say what he said about his anxiety and depression took a lot of guts.
He is an extremely capable angler as well!
I really enjoyed it, was good to see someone young with issues sorting through them and being honest.

He did an interview on the The Spodcast in which he was very, very open about his mental health issues. Fair play to the kid.

I thought it was very brave of him to talk about his mental health. Very hard for someone with issues to talk about them

As for that Carp at the end.. Wow absolutely stunning imho

I didn't enjoy it. Can't explain why but I just could not get into the story at all. The fish is impressive at the end but compared to the other films ESP have put out I rank this very lowly. Maybe I just don't get the urban carping thing and that is why. Either way fair play to him, he seems quite a level-headed kid

I personally thought it was great and a brave thing for him to do - its a breath of fresh air from all mass manufactured carpers that are all identical.

He was with Nash originally no? I worry about the pressure some of their young anglers seem to be put under. Carl seemed to experience some anxiety issues etc while he was there.

Its on my To watch list.. Spoke to Alfie a couple of times at the shows when he 1st appeared on the scene, catching a few from the Hampstead ponds. He came across as pretty sharp but maybe a little lost in the interest that was being being shown in him by a couple of companies? Hes had some real peachy fish though

The story isn't just about the final result. It's about the journey, that's why I love Terry Hearn, Dave lane etc. They weave stories.

No one would watch it if it was 5 minutes of stalking and then the fish on the bank.
