In reply to Post #1 Been with asda breakdown for, ages, the only time I needed them they were faultless. Before that I was with AA, the clutch in my Discovery went and it took them nearly 9 hours to get me the 60 miles to my destination.

In reply to Post #11 Tried that in March and AA wouldn't budge. They just arrogantly said that the RAC were not as good as them with less nationwide coverage. Interestingly I then cancelled and rejoined in June as a completely new member and ended up saving over £160 for the year - cheeky buggers!

I play the AA and RAC off against each other. It’s been 99 quid most years.

In reply to Post #1 Try getting a quote from GEM Motoring Assist.
I've been with AA and RAC in the past and GEM are cheaper and the waiting times have not been any longer and the service is just as good in my experience.
I've only ever had the UK Breakdown cover though, so i don't know if they cover Europe if that's what you're looking for?

In reply to Post #1 Always pays to shop around otherwise as you say the price goes up every year. Same with insurance.
A price comparison site is always a good start. Money super market etc.
You probably will find the AA etc on there but at a lower price as they have to compete.

I’ve got Three lots of cover, one is with Hastings direct Premium as part of the car insurance, another is with caravan guard who I use for my motorhome insurance and I also have cover with my Nationwide bank account, I was with the AA for years and was a gold card member, got fed up with phoning every year to get the cost down to what new members could get cover for, my lad has used the Nationwide cover and the RAC turned up

In reply to Post #1 Auto Aid, £60 a year, very highly rated. Have a look at the Money Saving Expert first for feedback.

In reply to Post #5 I phoned them but still to much. Just went with rac for less than half the aa and get home start cover as well which i never had with the aa. They have 50% off at min so only £75.

In reply to Post #1 I’ve been with the AA for years and every year when the renewal comes through at full whack I just give them a ring and get a big discount
