In reply to Post #1034 Hi Jon,
Use your own damn phrases and don't plagiarize mine.
I have the armour of self confidence to dismiss your feeble insults.

In reply to Post #1006 The kid will have United States of America stamped on it when he gets a passport. Not Chicago or Charleston. Your figures show the totally disproportionate lives led by Americans with black skin. That's been like that for far too long. Federal government is the only way to change the status quo as a great leader JFK did before with the eventual 64 Civil Rights Act. Your man can wheel out all the talking coloured heads he wants, the audience aren't listening anymore. They see him as a bulwark of the problem.

In reply to Post #1037 When your go-to economic guru is Patrick Minford, you can't complain when your experts of choice on other subjects don't get instant respect.
Who said that?

In reply to Post #1028 Hi noj,
Both of those black professors grew up in poor conditions in the time of segregation. One was adopted by an aunt and the other raised by a single mother. They have written many books on the cultural conditions of modern black Social history. They are considered experts on the subject.
If they and the other commentators I mentioned, are not qualified to understand the black community, I wonder who you think is? It's social history and community relations, not quantum physics.
The homicide figures I quoted were from official FBI crime stats. Not sure how easily they could be manipulated. Not sure why you seem determined to dismiss the credibility of the above experts?

In reply to Post #1032 The danger of trying to ensure nobody gets something they don’t deserve is that some will lose out because of systematic flaws and false assumptions. When you wrote about it being Wayne’s mother who brought him up I almost replied that that was a bit of stereotype, even though I automatically assumed it was his mother as well.
I was wrong and I’m glad I didn’t post that as I would have just looked even more sanctimonious.

In reply to Post #1032 Scozza, when I said 'taking the piss', I meant your 'milking it'.
I find the arguments for universal basic income quite persuasive. A 'rich' economy like the UK should be able to give everyone enough to survive on, no matter what their motivation is. Categorising folk according to their worthiness for help is a recipe for disaster.

In reply to Post #1025 Hi Jon,
I don’t think it’s a case of taking the piss, it’s what we do to address the issues that will make all the difference. The easiest thing is to say there is not a problem , when clearly there is. It’s about filtering out the people, who really need the support and people who are milking it for me

In reply to Post #1017 Dear BB,
I wholeheartedly refute your somewhat slanderous accusations.
While it may seem apposite to reflect upon the impact the variety of measures implemented by both Democrat and Republican administrations have had on the circumstances and wellbeing of inner-city black communities in the United States, and to opine on the relevance and importance of a range of social factors on the ability or otherwise of young blacks to make a successful life for themselves may be tempting, I would like to remind you of the occasional situation which may arise upon one overlooking a half-used bucket of previously prepared particles, and leaving said receptacle forgotten and neglected for weeks on end, which when opened presents a scum-covered surface with the watery liquid below being grey in colour, with flecks of putrid solid matter and an overwhelming stench which can only be likened to children’s vomit, left in a car on a hot day…
That’s your aftershave, that is. You splash it all over.

In reply to Post #1013 With all due respect to whoever those professors are BB, I doubt they know much about financial hardship or illegal means of earning being the only avenue that will feed your family without welfare handouts.
As we know from Covid reporting worldwide, figures are easily manipulated, misunderstood or misreported
