If I can get them to this size on a couple of red maggies, wonder what a big bunch of worms might throw up?

In reply to Post #1 Lovely Tench.
I have seen this behavior in carp on a fairly shallow dammed lake, they were behaving exactly as you describe over a silty area, not sure if this strikes a cord?

In reply to Post #2 Possible - good shout.
I packed up due to the heat.
Looked so weird.
The striking thing was they were just so vertical and it was all done sort of leisurely, almost like they were having a look around outside.

In reply to Post #1 Don't know. Never seen it either. Maybe precursor to spawning. It's about that time. That might explain why you couldn't get them to take.

First fishing since the lockdown.
Didn’t realise just how much I needed it!
3 lovely Tench, 4-12, 5-12, 5-8.
Float fished bacon grill over groundbait/sweetcorn/hemp
12 hook, 4lb line, old school stuff.
Had some cracking Roach too when the tincas turned in for the day.
Also had some huge Crucians in the swim but couldn’t hook one for love nor money.
Never seen this behaviour before though - they were coming up to the surface and pushing their head right out to the gill plate, then slowly sinking back down again in the same position. Not rolling or jumping, they looked like Dolphins playing!
Taunting me the little sods.
