Would be careful about using a soft hinge especially at range. Wouldn’t bother with the Gemini thing either. A conventional chod or one with a short stiff boom would be fine it will eliminate tangles and will cast well without the Gemini system. If your really struggling drop your bait size a 10mm proper job pop up will keep your chod up for weeks.

PS I'm planning to use this set up with the Gemini Arc leads. I also use the Liner Saver and it works fine with them. I've found it adds good adds yards particularly with big pop ups and helps no end casting from awkward swims with overhanging trees, bushes behind etc. Also flys straighter in wind.

Never tried it with a classic chod with the curved hooklength but should be fine as long as the Line Saver isn't pulled up too tight.

I find it can shoot the lead down into the weed (vertically if you will) so when you tighten up it can drag the rig down into the weed in front. If you keep the tip low it tends to land more horizontally so you can tighten up without interfering with the rig.
If that makes sense?

And yes in all cases to your 2nd question buddy

What's your reason for not bringing the rod tip back for the drop?

Also why not just use fluoro on the leader? Is the mono for better casting distance, smaller knot and doesn't bed down /pick up weed so much?

I try not to bring the rod tip back after casting to feel for the drop with this set up. I just land it on a tight line with the rod tip low, and if you feel the slightest thud as it goes down you're almost guaranteed to be presented

I can totally relate to this mate, the water I'm fishing requires a similar approach. The way I do it is 12 lb mainline, 20 lb shockleader (standard mono so only a tiny knot (I use HydroTuff)), and a meter + of heavy fluoro.
I also fish my chods hinged (but with a tiny, very stiff boom, say 2" long). This is solely to give the rig movement when mr carp sucks at it. It sits on top of the weed perfectly.
I always have one rod on this set up, normally it'll be fished on the spot with another rod but if I see something it's this one that gets bought in and chucked at it. It's caught me LOADS of bonus fish.
Once you're past 60 yards you're fine to fish the line that little bit tighter. As you approach 100 you can get away with murder (bow string). I don't bother with a bottom bead (although I do use a line saver), I just set the top bead to accommodate any weed comfortably.

It's not fluoro but a tapered mainline fished naked would do every thing you want.

At range your line will be on the bottom where it needs to be anyway, so I'd not worry too much about it

yep I guess that’s it, maybe a soft hinge though. would prefer to fish running between beads to settle on silkeeed etc. it’s more the hooking side i’m concerned about but maybe i’m over thinking it.

Wanting to fish chods as far as I can cast. Always fished chods with fluoro but that won't get me the distance.

Lake I'm fishing is no rowing boats for the time being. Weed isn't bad but want to cast to showing fish without leading first so won't know exactly what I'm landing on and I'm confident with chods in this scenario.

So I'm thinking 12lb mono to heavy leader. Ideally fluoro but would prefer tapered for small knot if it sinks well. Don't think you can get tapered fluoro leaders unless anyone knows different.

Always fished chods with slack lines on heavy fluoro but guess will need to be semi tight lines with the above set up. Also thinking might need to fix the rig swivel in place with both beads to get a good hookhold, making sure I'm clear of the weed. Chod will be hinged. I guess what I'm describing is a heli set up but with a hinged chod rig.

Anyone had sucess with the above/got any tips from experience?

Cheers
