check out Gemini Arc leads. I find they work perfectly and will guarantee no tangles.

In reply to Post #1 Do you need to use a leader?
I'm old, been fishing for years, so have used braided hooklinks with helicopter systems. No matter how careful you are, if you cast out a braided hooklink on a helicopter lead, you will occasionally get a tangle.
Using PVA will reduce tangles, be it a stringer or a small mesh nugget on the hook.
I started tying 3bait stringer necklace and attach it around the lead, then put the hook through the PVA.
Obviously like this the hooklink and bait don't rotate around the line, but it does avoid tangles.

In reply to Post #5 Spot on, only thing I use and with a stiff boom. zero tangles. 100% confidence.

In reply to Post #4 Confidence is a funny thing. If lead clips are your thing and work for you that's great. However if you look at in line leads, pendant leads on a line clip and helicopter leads the heli is definitely the most tangle free. Use any set up with soft uncoated braid and you will get the occasional tangle. It's why coated braid was invented. My experiences tell me I'll get a lot less on a heli. Everything is a compromise.

In reply to Post #3 I personally wouldnt use them with a heli but i supose its a confidence thing. I find they frap up sometimes on heli set up. Id rather use a leadclip and tie direct to the rig ring.

In reply to Post #1 I regularly use soft uncoated braided hook links on heli rigs with no tangle problems. Unless you really have to use a leader I wouldn't bother.

In reply to Post #1 If you are new, don't use leaders at all.....
