Using that method you have posted, you could also just divide those numbers by 12 if you wanted to calculate the ingredient level required for 1kg of dry base mix (if doing small batches).

Does it really matter? just do it in kilos then you would have 12 1k's of base mix

If you really need it to add up to a multiple of 10 then minus a 1/6th of each total so eg 5 "parts" of provimi 66 would weigh would be 4.17 kilo and so on

I think its far easier to just weigh out in full kilos

interested in this mix so i went with a "part" being 1KG or a part being 10G

but there are 12 "parts" to the mix what am i not getting

so if your working in KG

it would read

5KG Provimi 66
1.5KG Soya
2KG Milk
1KG Wheat
2.5KG Semo

What's the best way to contact Pete B? I'm looking to buy some base mix, but the email address I have doesn't seem to work.

Not necessarily. Any oil whatsoever on my tables and my bait just won't roll. It's the only bait I've ever rolled that this has happened with and always used to oil my tables

If you put a little bit of oil onto tissue and and rub it onto the table it will help it to roll better and if you put loads on the table it will cause the stiff mix to slide hope this helps

a simple tuna hydroslate instead

What sort of quantity and is this liquid of powder? If powder then dropping the Vecon reduces the liquids in this mix doesn't it? Do you drop the dry mix to allow for less wet or add water/eggs to bring the wet quantity up again?

Interested in the Hydroslate .

putting oil on the table.

Wouldn't that make a stiffer mix more prone to sliding?

Oh great, thanks guys i will have to try a few different % then, I guess you just add water so it's not too dry to roll

75g WEP
25g Blood plasma
Add flavours and any other liquids
add water to make total 540grams

This should then take 1kg base mix

I like to use a 50-50 blend of both and the dosage on a kg mix depends on the leakage you want to create.

Since I don't know what you fancy, I would suggest test:
1kg mix +100gram egg replacer
1kg mix +75gram egg replacer
1kg mix + 50gram egg replacer

I've never made bait without eggs
With this bait, I would make just over 1kg with 6 eggs, if I use egg power and blood plasma instead what would be the ratio of that with water?

Thanks guys

The belacayenne

I used this bait somewhere in 2009 or 2010 when a member of this forum shared the recipe with me.

I used it from november to october 2 years after, i explain why.

I started using it on my local run water in belgium. I used the exact recipe as written below in this thread except that i put in less cayenne pepper ( 30 gr for each kilo of base mix).

I baited 2 times with 3 kilos before my first try with this bait. the day of the first try with it, was rainy with southwest wind and mild for the season (middle of november).

Long story short, i caught so much that at 3 p.m i run out of bait, i started fishing with 3 rods and ended with just 1 ! .... really awsome !
One of my mate visited me to take some shot and by 2 times we were both with a rod in the hand, he did not beleive it !

I used it on various water from canal lake and gravel pit here in France and caught really well on it.

But one thing that i have learned with it, is that it blow after some months if you bait up regularly a water : i have in mind my local gravel pit, were i baited up from the star of spring all week and the result was very good until september were my result dropped sundently, i started fishing 1 rod with my usual boilies and this rod caught 70% of the fish during the month i used the 2 bait at the same time.
The fish clearly was wary of the bait.

During more recent years i tried cayenne pepper in other recipes at various level and i clearly observed that high amount of it was very good but blow quite quickly.

If using it on a water were you want the bait perform for a long time, put no more than 10 gr for a kilo of base mix, 50gr recommended by Pete is way too much for long term.
