Thanks, I'll have a look at it.
What is the difference between the two (loaded?)

I don't understand why they stopped it? It was a brilliant line and yes the best I've ever used.

Cheers Mike

yes I think Shimano Catana. was the best line I have ever used tried so many lines after they stopped making it and in the end I have settled on
THE BRILLIANT ALL ROUND LINE ESP Syncro XT in 15lb

not !!!! the loaded version though

The closest I've found to Technium as far as all round performance is concerned is this....

I much preferred Touchdown to Sub Line. If you don’t need to cast long range then the 20lb in brown is a good line.

Old thread I know however what's the alternative to the Shimano catana.
I'm using subline but it's not a patch on the shimano catana.
What is the best substitute and I can't understand why it was discontinued.
Cheers Mike

found this one, seems to be the closet to black.

Probably Covid-19 related.
Social distancing, less workers allowed to work in the factorys, so products \ manufacturing limited.
It will happen everywhere in the next few months.
Something we'll have to get used to.

Cheapest I found is £16.39 from HERE

I use technium black in 12lb. Have to say why would any company stop production of a well selling product without a reason related to production. Unless 15lb is superfluous to requirements as 12lb is so robust and therefore 15lb just doesn't sell.

Has anyone thought to message Shimano on faceache and ask them? Maybe its just a supply issue from the Far East at the moment

Was told weeks ago it's gone. That's why most of the big boys have no stock. Also why some have been selling it off at 9.99

I used technium black a long time ago and it was decent stuff. I spooled up with the stuff in the plastic box a while ago, not like the stuff of old for me, very wire like, found it horrible. Back on the Syncro XT for me

That's what I thought or maybe they're redesigning the packaging as I believe the UK design is slightly different from other countries?

12lb generally ok
But if you want 15lb try Gardner Pro Blend its a great line and cheap, it was recommended to me by Terry Edmunds, i had a lesson with him and cast 154 yards with the 15lb straight through, and it comes in two colours dark or light.
Its very supple but pretty tough.

I prefferd it to Technium and at about £12 a bulk spool well worth a try

I've used 12lb this season with no probs, have had a bit of line twist though, maybe playing the fish off the clutch too much.

You'd be surprised how much punishment the 12lb can take..... plus it beds down and casts better.

Hi Guys,
Looks like this in 15lb has been stopped, tried bloody everywhere.

Could I get away with 12lb for UK fishing?

Seems much easier to get hold of

Cheers
