In reply to Post #31 Thanks, I'll have a look at it.
What is the difference between the two (loaded?)
I don't understand why they stopped it? It was a brilliant line and yes the best I've ever used.
Cheers Mike

In reply to Post #28 yes I think Shimano Catana. was the best line I have ever used tried so many lines after they stopped making it and in the end I have settled on
THE BRILLIANT ALL ROUND LINE ESP Syncro XT in 15lb
not !!!! the loaded version though

In reply to Post #26 The closest I've found to Technium as far as all round performance is concerned is this....

In reply to Post #28 I much preferred Touchdown to Sub Line. If you don’t need to cast long range then the 20lb in brown is a good line.

In reply to Post #27 Old thread I know however what's the alternative to the Shimano catana.
I'm using subline but it's not a patch on the shimano catana.
What is the best substitute and I can't understand why it was discontinued.
Cheers Mike

In reply to Post #26 That's the stuff it often gets listed as grey

In reply to Post #24 found this one, seems to be the closet to black.

In reply to Post #22 Probably Covid-19 related.
Social distancing, less workers allowed to work in the factorys, so products \ manufacturing limited.
It will happen everywhere in the next few months.
Something we'll have to get used to.
The 'New Normal' (Smiley with someone being sick) .

In reply to Post #20 After reading this thread a couple of weeks ago I bought the 12lb in brown from ebay £14.99 but that's gone.
Cheapest I found is £16.39 from HERE

In reply to Post #22 why did they stop making Shimano Catana mono ? thats possible the best mono ever made ?

In reply to Post #21 I use technium black in 12lb. Have to say why would any company stop production of a well selling product without a reason related to production. Unless 15lb is superfluous to requirements as 12lb is so robust and therefore 15lb just doesn't sell.

Has anyone thought to message Shimano on faceache and ask them? Maybe its just a supply issue from the Far East at the moment

In reply to Post #1 been looking aroung today for a spool of 12lb and really struggling, has it changed to grey now?
In reply to Post #18 I do hope so, its my go to main line
Got two spools left in the garage to re spool my reels for this year
In reply to Post #17 I think there's a good chance it'll reappear with slightly different packaging
In reply to Post #12 Was told weeks ago it's gone. That's why most of the big boys have no stock. Also why some have been selling it off at 9.99
I used technium black a long time ago and it was decent stuff. I spooled up with the stuff in the plastic box a while ago, not like the stuff of old for me, very wire like, found it horrible. Back on the Syncro XT for me

i have never found the need to go above 12lb in Technium black in nearly 20 years of using it .... but then i do use lighter leads
In reply to Post #13 That's what I thought or maybe they're redesigning the packaging as I believe the UK design is slightly different from other countries?
In reply to Post #11 Hopefully just short of stock everywhere due to the current restrictions.
In reply to Post #11 I don't think it has, birds tackle have got it in stock

15lb technium is all I use. Hope it isn’t discontinued. Why would they when it’s so popular

Loads on eBay bud, I bought some last week to do this weekend
In reply to Post #8 Plenty on eBay
In reply to Post #7 I really hope not, the 15lb line is my standard line everywhere and only have 2 spools left...
There are still a few spools available on ebay

In reply to Post #1 12lb generally ok
But if you want 15lb try Gardner Pro Blend its a great line and cheap, it was recommended to me by Terry Edmunds, i had a lesson with him and cast 154 yards with the 15lb straight through, and it comes in two colours dark or light.
Its very supple but pretty tough.
I prefferd it to Technium and at about £12 a bulk spool well worth a try

In reply to Post #1 I've used 12lb this season with no probs, have had a bit of line twist though, maybe playing the fish off the clutch too much.
In reply to Post #1 Im sure ive got a couple of unused spools of it down the garage.
I would be willing to post to you when this is all over
In reply to Post #3 nothing wrong with the 12lb!
In reply to Post #1 You'd be surprised how much punishment the 12lb can take..... plus it beds down and casts better.

In reply to Post #1 12LB line is my go to unless it’s weedy

Hi Guys,
Looks like this in 15lb has been stopped, tried bloody everywhere.
Could I get away with 12lb for UK fishing?
Seems much easier to get hold of
Cheers
