In reply to Post #35 Your right I forgot about that. I was thinking of telephone directories. Showing my age lol.

In reply to Post #31 That is not the way search engine analytics work. Companies pay craxy money to even be on the first page of Google searches if it was as easy as having a company name beginning with a then everyone would be at it

In reply to Post #32 Abacus baits would a winner 😂

In reply to Post #32 Obviously not every company founder is as perspicacious as you or I.

In reply to Post #31 Yes but Q is further down the list what about Aardvark Baits
Still think two Aqua's is unnecessary.

In reply to Post #29 Naming any company with a title beginning with A will put it at the top of the search list on a search engine. Or telephone directory. So it's a no brainer really.

In reply to Post #28 I don't get involved too much in bait threads, was just giving an alternative point of view.
Sounds like some of you know what you're looking for but as you say some people go by the smell, mmm I love that strawberry smell I'm sure the carp will have that
I shall now get everyone I know including auntie and granny to ask for free samples
Edit
I don't think calling it Aqua Bait was a good idea when there's another Aqua about.

In reply to Post #26 Definitely as Yonny put it below. In that case how does anyone really know what is a good bait? Going round and round in hypothetical circles again. Its all about opinion and experience. Some people are happy buying a bag of readymades because they smell nice and are cheap. I personally would want to see samples of a bait if I was planning on changing.
Quite an odd slant to take on the whole samples thing. Not sure many bait companies would have the time or inclination to do that but still...

In reply to Post #26 See post 19, no anthropomorphism there imo. You can tell a lot about the characteristics of a bait. Fur sure it wont tell you if it's any good or not, but it will defo tell you something.

|
In reply to Post #25 I think asking to cover postage is fair or competing companies could try to bring each other down by putting 100's of fake requests in.
As regards knowing a good bait just by looking at it can we really tell what a carp preference is. Anthropomorphism

In reply to Post #18 I completely understand the request for samples and if I ran a bait company I would be keen on offering these FOC. Yes it would be a hassle but, assuming I was happy with the quality of my bait (which I wouldnt be selling it to the public if I wasnt), I would let the samples do the talking for themselves. A lot of people dont want to commit to 10 or 20kg of a new bait without at least seeing it first. Experienced bait makers/ users will know a decent bait when they see it, whereas less experienced anglers might simply like the smell! I certainly consider myself experienced enough to know a good bait when I see one.

In reply to Post #23 Ordering a decent quantity does bring down the cost quite significantly

In reply to Post #14 Fair enough and agree - as i said have been a customer of his for around 3 years.
The price hike does now mean hes directly competing with ABS hydra K and other "premium" mixes. I hope it works for him but the step away from other £7/£7.50 per kg bait is a brave one.
again I'd like to say that I have no affiliation with him or anyone and dont buy that much bait really but honestly think to date his service has been great.

In reply to Post #19 If I ordered a sample of any bait, I’d see how accurate it was to the photo or description or recommendations by trusted friends.
But more importantly, first I’d taste the bait, then feel the baits firmness (stick proof) texture and consistency. Bait ‘Smell’ as such, is low down on my list.
After you have rolled your own quality stuff, You soon get a gut instinct of good quality ready rolled stuff and the not so great doctored gear
Aqua baits do seem to have a good reputation

In reply to Post #19 Thanks Boycie.

In reply to Post #18 I think you only pay something like a quid for postage it’s not a lot
|
|
|
In reply to Post #18 Never had any myself but I'd imagine the obvious things you could see from a sample would be the colour (better than a tampered with image on a website), texture (I prefer an open/coarse texture and that can't always be determined by a photo), you'd also be able to tell to some degree if they were over flavoured. Then you could check for leakage and breakdown time. So yes, plenty of things I'd say.

In reply to Post #12 Hi Finbob
May i just ask if you paid for those samples ?
One thing that has always made my head spin a little is the request for samples. What is it that we do with these? How, by looking and sniffing does the average angler know if it is a winner? What is it that justifies a purchase from a sample?
Please advise.....

In reply to Post #4 Certainly looks interesting may have a dabble next time I place a bait order. Lack of freezer space is a problem for me.

In reply to Post #14 Absolutely agree..

In reply to Post #13 Recently taken on another 2 lads to help cope with demand, aswell as his misses and daughter organising orders. I’ve used Spencer’s bait since day one, it quiet often makes me laugh when people moan about paying a £1 extra on a good quality bait when they will sit behind £1000’s worth of rods and reels in an £800 bivvy on an all singing all dancing bedchair. Pay for what you get, it’s top quality bait supplied by lads that have a real passion for it and who genuinely care about your results. avoid it at your own peril.
