In reply to Post #12 No mate I know what you mean, with stiff krimpable material I krimp a loop and mould the putty round that, materials you can’t krimp I use a grinner tightened down early. But the tests I have just done were literally just with the hook section no boom

In reply to Post #1 It all depends how you have tied the rig up Imo , if you have used let’s say a grinner knot to the ring swivel and bedded/tightened it down fully it’s probably going to be very hard for the ring on the swivel to move up or down , it will stay horizontal , but using a loop knot so the swivel ring is free moving would allow the pop up to pull the ring upwards if you moulded putty around the boom section , hope that didn’t confuse you !

In reply to Post #9 I’m a bit obsessive with it check em before and after work if it’s not sitting right after a few hours in the water I’m not happy

In reply to Post #1 You could try PJPU if you don’t want to mess about with having to drill out the pop up. It’s been said on here many times, but these are really buoyant. Their mega buoyant version are even more so. They do unflavoured versions if you don’t like their flavour combos.

In reply to Post #7 I agree with that. Checking rigs when you bring them in is almost more important than before casting out.

Thanks guys I have used the foam/cork and pops up with the swivel ring laying flat but only way to see is to try, and as been laid off unless they ban it I will be fishing slot haha

In reply to Post #1 Keep these hook baits for bottom baits, get a more buoyant pop up for your ronnie rigs.
They will take on water. From what I've seen, hardly any anglers wind in their rig and check bouyancy after it's been out for hours/all night.

In reply to Post #1 Its personal preference buddy. I weight the boom so the ring swivel is cocked.

In reply to Post #1 Personally I have the ring laying flat and the barrel lifted.

In reply to Post #1 7mm brad point drill and Gardner Zig foam is your friend. I always use this with my 16mm boosted pop ups. Haven't used corkball pop ups since I changed to this method.

Hi chaps got a question that is both rig and bait related so here goes
Have been mucking around with boosting up pop ups with various liquids, went fishing the other day and tested my rig In the margin before casting and the boosted hookbaits won’t pop up a Ronnie with a size 4 wide gape b.
Obv I’m probs gonna have to dry them out but before that I have a question on the Ronnie do you even want the ring of the swivel lifting too or just the barrel?? I drilled them out and plugged with cork and they only lift the barrel not the ring on the swivel
