Can't speak for all but I know a lot of places have used a rota system for staff rather than one group of teachers to cover every day.

Without getting into generalising, the feeling is that key workers have been better on all of the guidance re distancing etc. Not having bloody house parties and the like.... so the kids are lower risk in that respect. That feels like a sweeping statement but hopefully you get what I mean key workers have had to be strong on safety measures.

Been reading the government info and it's pathetic. Lots of 'should' and 'where possible ' and undefined statements like 'small groups' leaving the detail to someone else so they can cover their arses without committing to anything.

Wishy washy doesn't come close.

What’s the feeling among teachers that have stayed on with key workers kids when the remaining staff are having reservations about their safety going back mate?
Would’ve thought the key workers kids posed the biggest risk, but I accept attendance numbers make a big difference

Yeah it does.

Chelsea, primrose Hill, belgravia. ... unless you count second homes too of course. ...

Listening to Gove. F***ing Gove of all people using phrases like 'if you care about children' and our 'responsibility ' on the radio today .... talk about a red rag...

Or that Eton is a boarding school and as such does not have a catchment area.

https://metro.co.uk/2020/05/17/pupils-stand-hoops-playground-ridiculous-reopening-measures-12714407/?ico=pushly-notifcation-small&utm_source=pushly

and so it begins...

Teachers and schools now caught between concerned parents (rightly so) and ridiculous Government statements. 'It's safe for schools to be open but with social distancing' 'they can't bring a pencil case but they can bring a lunchbox as they won't want to share lunch' FFS - was Jenny Harries ever a child? lunchboxes are infinitely more interesting than pencil cases! So do staff give out pens / pencils? then are they thrown away at the end of each class/ day? schools attempt to provide safe measures and parents call it barbaric...

Thrown under the same bus as construction workers, warehouse staff, and care staff up and down the country.

meanwhile mp's can tune in once a week via zoom with their sycophantic praise or point scoring bullsh**

Yeah - could've been an accident. I don't think there'll ever be a definitive answer tbh. And I can't see a country that is constantly treated with mistrust suddenly becoming an open book, so they will be treated with more mistrust... - it's a vicious circle isn't it?

As for the US figures, of course you can use different statistics - or choose not to if you're boris - but their reaction is rightly being questioned and criticised. I guess that's what happens when you put the idiot in charge of the village eh?

Trump and his cronies are obviously trying to deflect with the focus on China - it's not even subtle (not his strong point of course). Just wait until someone tells him there's a strain of flu called avian flu (and then explains what 'avian' means)
At least his supporters are already tooled up ready to blow the little suckers out of the sky...

Both gone off at tangents there ,
I'm sure that China has 10's of thousands of samples , probably 10 times more than any other nation , kept in labs designed for the purpose , i am saying that if not needed then they should be destroyed by these smaller labs "unsafe environments " as i previously stated !

Do you not remember Trump in the early days stating "China has done a fantastic job " regarding containment and it's general handling of the crisis , then it became political for him , he changed the narrative to suite his political agenda and save himself by shifting the "blame " away from his catastrophic handling of the crisis by blaming China , surely , you have not fallen for that chestnut , Trump and Doris , reactionary policies and always behind events because of it !

And as previously stated , i do not trust either countries or our shambolic lot !

I am definitely not making any rash judgement's based on anything from our press , sky news , bbc etc , or the majority of media outlets from America , who , as the global superpower will try to rewrite history and some will be stupid enough to "lap it up " !

Stay alert , keep an eye on Doris's plummeting approval ratings towards other governments that have not fuc*ed it up

Our capitalist system is a corrupt monolith in desperate need of reform , i am hoping that this will force the issue !

I don't think the Chinese made a super virus and released it purposely

Nor do I but they may have possibly had an accident in a lab? Hopefully science will eventually come up with the truth but will we be allowed to know?

And I don't think the US reacted to the pandemic effectively.
Depends on how you view the stats for instance if you take deaths vs population USA is quite low and Belgium is the worse.
Deaths in Sweden on the other hand aren't that high seeing they did very little.
Too many variables to say who done the best and worst.

Morning all

My take is this... China and the U.S. are, have and will use any opportunity to not trust the other. Over anything. China is a nation that traditionally looks inward and doesn't share information. The u.s. Increasingly is one that places blame for their own ills at the door of others - even internally.

I think Chuffy or spanker mentioned the documentary film, the coming war on china. It's well worth a watch to see the recent history of this spat between them.

I wouldn't trust either to tell me it's Sunday without checking myself.

I don't think the Chinese made a super virus and released it purposely. And I don't think the US reacted to the pandemic effectively.

Have a good day y'all
