Not meant to be political. Just said labour because you mentioned them before

I don’t think you can compare a potential situation at a later date because who knows the level of debt after renationalising many things brings in money to the treasury. Pandemic could happen 3yrs and 363 days in to the term and debt could have been much reduced from what was initially borrowed. Who knows. A pandemic may never have happened.

Your original point is one I see a lot from supporters of a certain party which is why I posed the question like that. If you take it on the situation that has actually happened then it doesn’t really make sense. Doesn’t even matter really anyway because labour didn’t win so not really sure why a comparison to something that will never happen is being made (more generally not aimed at you). It’s like saying “yeah city lost that champions league match but if arsenal won the league last year and qualified and were in that group they’d have lost by 5-0 not 3-0 to Real Madrid”

Sorry but I'm not going to get all political, I've said before we should have a political thread for that.
I will answer that one question though. No one knew if and when a pandemic was going to happen so I think it was lucky that Labour didn't get in and started to borrow and then a pandemic occurred later in their term as we'd even more ****ed than we are now.
We'd all be laying into the government big time but it would be a little unfair as they were voted in on agenda.
If Labour had got in and the pandemic started when it did people would say they welched on their promises which would be unfair. Unless they borrowed for furlough and their promises, now that would be wreckless

See I'm fair to everyone

Just for the record I'm not a die hard Tory by any means I've voted for many parties in the past and will do so in the future depending on what they stand for at the time.
An example of this is I thought the economy was doing ok under Gordon Brown and thought it was unfair for him to take so much criticism when the was a global down turn.
So I do support the government at the moment but only until the next election and then I'll make my decision based at the time.

That makes no sense. Do you think a labour government would have borrowed and spent all those millions of pounds in 3 months of being in charge?? Especially considering it was a 4 year plan?

No praise for failure from me, but what I'm trying to get at in the last few posts back is maybe try to be a little positive from time to time rather than the grass is always greener on the other side.

Good news from Fishie, well at least I think it is, let's hope the protests haven't interfered

These are the " bumps in the road?" .To put certain parts of the UK infrastructure into public ownership. So we'd own them now coming out of COVID-19. At least they had the balls to say it as it was. 1TRILLION £'s in added national debt since 2010 and what's to show for it? You think that's worthy of praise and your continuous support?

Taken from BBC news

The UK is now publishing "growth rates" to measure the spread of coronavirus.
The figures tell us how fast cases are rising or falling.
Across the UK, the growth rate is estimated at between -2% and -4% per day. As the number is negative it means cases are falling.
So for every 100 new cases on Friday you would expect around 97 new cases on Saturday, around 94 on Sunday and so on.The growth rate is thought to be negative in every region of England.
Only in London is there a small chance cases are growing.
The range is from -5% to +1% but on balance cases are thought to be falling in the capital too.
The growth rate is related to the R number that has been reported for months. The R number for the UK is between 0.7 and 0.9 - anything below 1.0 means the epidemic is shrinking.

I give you
"only in London is there a small chance cases are growing"
Nothing to do with the marches, riot and fighting then?

Of course you didn't hear that because no one knew that it would become necessary.
Labour did say borrowing was ok though to finance their ideas. Just imagine if that had happened plus the unforeseen furloughing came along. Unless you're saying furloughing was a bad idea?

I don't think I've ever heard a labour politician say borrowing billions to pay millions on the dole is a good thing. Where did you get that from? No answers or ideas from those 2 Fishie

Form a medical perspective hopefully we are going to be taking a step out of it, hopefully!

From a business perspective and the impact on jobs and closures I think we are only just taking a step into it sadly, not good, it will impact a lot of people this sadly, probably has already but there is more to come.
