Hi Butterbean

So , where do i start ,

Maybe the degrading of our NHS over the last 10 years through a "failed Austerity programme "

When Corbyn begged for a cobra meeting when everyone had realized what was coming except for Boris , who was on holiday !

Herd immunity !! well do i have to explain what a delay meant in acting , around 10 days , not sourcing vital ppe equipment and testing equipment not purchasing ventilators ! then denying that it was ever their plan !!

Boris going to a hospital treating Corona virus patients and bragging that he "shook hands with everyone " then telling us that its vital to not shake hands !

constant lies regarding , the number of test's , death rates , ventilator numbers existing and procured

Building of new hospitals , don't you mean , erecting partitions and filling em with beds , IN AN EXISTING BUILDING !

And yes , many brave volunteers have put their names forward to help , the people of this country are the heroes , lions led by donkeys !

Judging by the person labour has appointed as their leader they don't agree with you.

Hi Spanker,

Under this governments watch and that of their scientific and medical advisors, including the army, they have build the Nightingale hospital in 10 days, mobilised 25000 retired medics to the front line, signed up 750000 volunteers and undertaken the massive logistical operation of delivering the millions of the required medical equipment to every hospital, GP surgery, dental practice and nursing home in the country, as well as sending letters and text messages to every person who is considered vulnerable to the virus.
They have also organised the financial protection for businesses and workers across the country and many other essential tasks, too many to mention.
Given the short timescale of the achievements above, I would have thought that, under any given measurement of success, they have done a pretty commendable job.
I would suggest you put aside your political bias while the country is fighting this awful pandemic and cut the government a little slack.

BB.

But to be fair, a lot of Chinese people wear masks as a matter of course and it didn't make a blind bit of difference there as far as I can tell

And the truth is?

For starters a mask isnít much good if the virus can still enter your eyes, or you donít replace/sterilise said mask after every possible point of contact with it, the same with gloves and any clothing.

Exactly, if there aren't enough masks for the frontliners the last thing they need is the public trying to bulk buy them

I would not trust anything this government or it's chosen adviser's tell us , they have been proven , more or less on a daily basis to be lying .

mask's are vital , i have just taken a batch of my ffp 3 mask's 20 mins ago to a mate of mine who's wife is a nurse ! they have run out ! and are re using their mask's

If you are in a contaminated area and are not wearing a mask you are around 5 x more likely to catch it , that was from a South Korean doctor , among many other's who say the same !

Why are all the governments around the world falling out with each other and committing act's of piracy to obtain masks if they are not vital ,

YOU ARE BEING LIED TOO ! i can't believe people are still "lapping it up " !

MY guess and itís a guess, the NHS need masks and ppe because they are in close proximity to the infected. They are touching leaning over and breathing from the same area, and distancing is not an option. Social distancing is playing a part in slowing the spread down but as usual with everything the minority spoil it for everyone 😡

Anyway must head off to the park to sit in sun and cut toenails as it looks like a nice day 😀

I can't believe the rubbish that has been being spouted about a mask will not protect us up until now in the UK. It's clearly more about low stocks being needed for the NHS, than the fact that masks offer no protection against the spread of the virus. How they can say on one hand that masks offer no protection... Yet on the other hand say that masks are essential for medical workers... Has made no sense since the very start. Every time they show South Korea on the news... Every single person out in public has a mask on. They have dealt with the virus better than anyone.

I've had an FFP3 mask on since the start when stepping outside, no exceptions. I wore one when travelling from Brazil to London via Paris in mid March. I'm shocked at the lack of masks being worn in the UK compared to other nations. No one at all is wearing them in reality. Most people including my friends seem to comment that a mask will do you no good. If this was true, every single paramedic/nurse/doctor worldwide would have the virus already, from dealing constantly with infected patients on a daily basis. PPE clearly has an effect on stopping you from contracting the virus. How could it not, when the respiratory virus is spread in droplet form from coughing, or touching your mouth/nose with the virus on your hands?

Before I left Brazil, my son who's a paramedic told me what masks I needed to buy for my flights back. I was clueless. A comment he made to me has stuck in my head ever since. The virus is actually far larger in size than most other viruses of a similar type. (I've seen this repeated on the news too regarding the size of the virus particles)... So a decent face mask should be very effective at stopping you from getting it, or spreading it. He's been dealing with Covid patients constantly everyday... I'd say the only thing that has stopped him & all of his workmates from contracting the virus is PPE, including high quality face masks.

I'd bet good money, that once the restrictions are lifted and we are allowed back out from lockdown... That face masks will be compulsory for everyone going out. I'd also bet that when all of this is over and we are back to normal... Everyone will have a stash of FFP3 face masks at home for any future outbreaks.
