It came within 4000 votes of being stopped in this country in 2017 !

There has been a leaked report in the Labour party , maybe you should read it , the Blairites and Starmer are trying everything they can to bury it , but it's out now !

The reason it doesn't end is because of that defeatist ideology , and a large amount of gullibility !

This is a hop skip and jump away from Covid now, maybe we should have a HS2 or JC thread to keep things on track?

There was this old scruffy guy once , think he was Labour , kind of went against the corrupt corporate types , they flung all kind of labels at him , like terrorist sympathizer , anti Semitic , commy , funny thing was , some people even believed it , they couldn't see through the lies , this was his take on HS2 , Jeremy Corbyn has said that the government should not “get a slap on the back” for announcing today that the High Speed 2 rail project is going ahead.

Responding to a statement from the government in the House of Commons, the Labour leader declared that the “piecemeal announcements” did not amount to a “serious plan to rebalance the economy”.

He suggested that the Conservative government was taking on the language of the Labour Party, but “falling a very long way short on the substance”.

The outgoing Labour leader also reiterated his call for the railways to be brought into public ownership, saying that the case was “unanswerable” to improve the service and cut fares.

The government statement in the House of Commons confirmed that HS2 will go ahead, with the first phase between London and Birmingham and the second going to Manchester and Leeds.

Commenting on the announcement, Corbyn said: “The Prime Minister laments our inadequate infrastructure, yet it’s his party that has been starving the country of investment for the last ten years, resulting in the worst regional inequality in Europe.

“Yet today the Prime Minister is selling his announcements as a prize for parts of the Midlands and the North. I tell him: people in those regions, to whom he promised so much in the general election, are going to be sorely disappointed.”

He added: “We don’t see why the government should get a slap on the back for announcing it is going ahead.”

The cost set out in the 2015 budget for the project was set at just under £56bn, but the independent Oakervee review has said it could cost more than £100bn.

Drives me crazy, I don’t know a single person who wants HS2, the same with the dammed 5G network being given to as Chinese company!

But all three of the main parties are hell bent on both; this is serious problem to me – as it’s impossible for anyone to stop them, even with a general election.

There must be some serous back handers involved in this, as a major majority of the population don't want either.

Hi Mal,

No mate, I'm in possession of all my censuses.
If you remember, Jon boy was amazed that I could write a light hearted post and said he expected me to return to type, so I just wanted to prove him wrong.
OK then, no more Mr nice guy.

BB.

Hi Scozza,

I would have called it a micro aggression and given you a lecture on how you should never, under any circumstances, say anything that anyone could possibly deem offensive and hurt there.. or is.. they're....oh I know...their feelings.

BB

Edit
. Hi Wayne,. Two thumbs eh....thanks for that..... I haven't even got one thumb
Everyone seems to have one except me. Nobody's given me a thumb.
I have to write mine. Thumb...there you go.

Hi Mal,

Don't sugar coat it, tell us what you really think of Trump.............just kidding.
I was going to suggest that the criticism he gets is overblown and more than he deserves, and that Bash Trump has become a spectator sport, but I don't think I'll bother.....oh..hang on....ah well...what the hell.

Yes, I agree we agree to disagree, unless you disagree that we agree to disagree, but I'm sure you will agree to disagree so that's agreed.....I think?
How about we call it a score draw?

Sod off you!

BB I'm no huge fan of the democrats. I don't feel the need to defend them as they too made mistakes when in office.

But at the moment it is Trump who is in the white house and as such becomes the focal point for what needs addressing.

Alongside that he's a liar and a bigot and a bully regardless of his party. Back on coronavirus track, his 'liberate...' tweets this week are appalling in protecting people against the virus

We will have to agree to differ I guess
