no fooling you Wayne As i have said before , the Labour party , under Blair sold parts of the nhs off , but !!! the amount they invested in the nhs increased by around 6% , "year on year " now under the Tory party its under 2 % which equates to a cut , in real terms , , you really should not go there , if you are trying to compare the welfare of the nhs under Tory or Labour , its a no brainer !

Are we about to see another government U turn regarding masks , or will it have to wait a little longer until we have procured enough masks , and then "the science " might be allowed to be released !

An RAF flight from Brize Norton now flying over the Sea of Marmar. Turkish masks on the way, maybe?

Some of the ppe being offered to government is by those who ordered from China and are attempting to make a profit by supplying hospitals. Itís only right those people sell none and lose money or sell at cost imo.

Face mask wars ! as governments scrabbled round desperately to secure as many masks as possible knowing there importance ,

What did we do , gave masks away to other countries that were made here and offered to us !!!!

Always helps when they (Czech authorities) confiscate a Chinese aid package destined for Italy Link

But the Czech Republicís rush to stockpile surgical masks and respirators has come at a humanitarian cost, too. Last week, a shipment more than 100,000 medical masks on its way to Italy from China was confiscated by the Czech authorities, after they seized more than 680,000 masks and ventilators from a warehouse.

At first, Prague claimed that all of the masks were confiscated from criminals looking to sell the masks on the black market. Only later, however, did Interior Minister Jan Hamacek admit that many of these masks were actually part of the Chinese aid package to Italy, now the worst affected country in the world for COVID-19. Prague sent 110,000 masks to Rome this week.

That flu going around December / January was certainly similar although originally dismissed as a different strain of Flu A i think......

I have 2 friends who have Prostate cancer and both were caught early but have now had there treatment pushed back 6 weeks and told to take tablets until they can have an op and treatment......Like you say these people will be a bigger casualty then this virus but the media wont report on that in a few months time!!!!

they might even admit that they are vital in limiting the transmission of covid 19

Depends if the WHO confirm this and also depends if China says so to no doubt!!

MASKS , buy one make one , do anything you can to get your hands on em ! leave the ffp 3 masks for our care workers though ,
When they have finally procured enough for our health care workers , they might even admit that they are vital in limiting the transmission of covid 19 ,
Statistical facts shown by countries that have worn them from an early stage ,

The Czech Republic and Slovakia were the first two countries in Europe to issue decrees making masks compulsory - and both have tiny infection rates per capita.

Just 63 Czechs per 100,000 has been infected and less than two per 100,000 have died from the virus.

In Slovakia, 21 per 100,000 people have caught it and just 0.2 per 100,000 have succumbed to the illness.

By comparison, 182 out of every 100,000 Britons has been infected and 25 per 100,000 have fallen victim to the virus.

Similar patterns can be seen for mask-wearing countries outside of Europe, with South Korea and Japan halting major outbreaks without imposing lockdowns.

It comes as a 100-strong group of top doctors today called for ministers to change its guidance on face masks.

The group wants to encourage Britons to make 'reusable cotton masks from simple items you can find in your house' and leave surgical masks for healthcare workers

Newsnight, 20/04/2020 1st 18 mins

Interesting that we probably hit the peak before we even went into lockdown, which is very good news. It's obviously been around a lot longer than we are told to think. Also the possible knock on effect of the lockdown to cancer/heart patients etc avoiding hospitals might be more devastating in the long run than if we didn't have the lockdown at all, food for thought.
