Spanker put this up the other day
LINK
It's suggested that the Chinese State produced it. To me it looks like they are deflecting blame from themselves to America.
Yes the Americans have made mistakes but taking the piss out of them while acting as they have acted responsibly doesn't sit right with me.
I'm not going to enter an argument about it but just to say that me and Spanker see that video in different ways.

Quick question.....

If masks work, why do all the businesses, pubs, restaurants etc have to be closed? At the same time if they donít work why are we being asked to potentially wear them????

Also I Read a report that global infection is probably closer to an estimated 30 million which pulls the death rate down to 1% But then begs the question why we have had this global lockdown.....

Not exactly true. If you have a cold/flu/CV19 and you are wearing a mask, then the viral load will increase in your body, as you are continually breathing it in.

Washing hands works the same, the less of it you have the less your immune system has to work, the more you have immune system is over worked.

You get stung by a wasp it's ok - you get stung by 500 wasps it's goodnight.

It's hilarious (but crazily sad) how the 'machine' is turning this around to make China look innocent. It'll be Americas fault soon, i hope some of you are seeing how the propaganda machine works now!

As Roger Walkers wrote in 1975, "Welcome to the Machine"

The Guardian are hand ringing and bowing down to the paymasters, who pay the money into their Cayman account, it's all very simple really chaps.

Hi BB

It is that simple.

as you said already, both types of mask have benefits. So if people are wearing them there is a benefit.
If we are waiting for a coordinated plan then we run the risk of old age getting to us never mind C-19!

More people wearing masks reduces risk.

Think of it in terms of car safety. Airbags have a benefit. Seatbelts have a benefit. If we lived in a world where cars had one or the other, you wouldn't look for a third option with neither until someone came up with a coordinated plan for the airbag/seatbelt difference in benefit conundrum would you?

The issue with supply is a consideration of course - however you could argue that if more people wear the simpler masks in everyday life, there would be less need for the medical grade ones as cases fell...

See? - simple

As long as everyone can make a balanced decision whilst being guided by people we can trust , we will all be fine !

Hi Ocelot,

If by rationing, you mean the government, only struggling to keep up supplies of ffp3s to front line staff, then I would imagine that's a major factor in them not recommending masks at the moment.

Hi Mal,

Unfortunately, I don't think it's that simple.
There needs to be a coordinated plan for the recommendation and use of masks for maximum effect.
For example, if a person who has been on lockdown for weeks and knows that they are not infected, then goes out, a cheaper mask that would only protect others wouldn't be effective for them. The ffp3 mask would be effective for them, but the priority and problem is keeping up supplies for front line workers, so the government wouldn't want to compromise that by recommending them for public use.
Until there is a workable, coordinated plan, they won't want to give the public a false sense of security.

Perhaps a bigger factor is rationing.

Hi Jon Boy,

We're told that our medics are in touch with their peers in other infected countries and assessing their actions and responses, so I imagine, they'll be aware of Italy's use of masks and taking them into consideration.

bloody hell - talk about overcomplicating something....

Wear a mask - it will help save lives. Whether that be your own or other people's, it's a good thing.
