In reply to Post #23 I can belive that too I used to go to a lot of metal detecting rallys and a group used to drive up fro Cornwall and one of their wife's used to make up these traditional 1.5lb pasty's he used to bring about 30 of them up with him for us lads they were outstanding nothing has ever come remotely close to them not even that range of Pasty shops that opened are as good

In reply to Post #5 A Cornish pasty from a local shop would be good. However we export all the rubbish ones to England so be warned😸

In reply to Post #18 Old geezer, you may not be aware that you can get different qualities of pasties. They are not all like the cheap and nasty ones you clearly buy from your local corner shop 😜 hopefully we will meet on the bank and I'll invite you over for dinner and a glass of the good stuff.
I own a ridgemonkey as they are a neat design and nice and compact.
I can't say it's changed the way I cook on the bank.
I'm quite a good cook (if I say so myself) and can knock up a decent meal on the bank
Some of the ridgemonkey recipes are a gimmick and done to see what you can get away with cooking in one of them.
Chips are the perfect example. Any chip cooked in a ridgemonkey is going to be a bad chip so why bother doing them unless your not arsed about eating bad chips.
Only once have I cooked chips on the bank and that was a social with a Chef friend and we took a proper pan and oil and deep fried them.
Each to their own but it's not for me.

In reply to Post #18 I'll do anything from a bacon sarny to a full roast but don't do pot noodle, summer time a simple prawn salad with plenty of olives and peppers.
Obviously not many cooks on here or your cadac would have been snapped up,

I think some of you are being a bit harsh on Gerry. As stated these fillings are probably the same as near as dammit that you get in your supermarket or a dirty Gregg’s pasty. You also have the option of using the better M&S fillings or even using home made ones. The choice is there.
Whilst I agree that it’s good to take pre cooked home made food from the freezer it is also nice to have something different now and again. I like to have good, freshly prepared stuff when fishing, especially in winter. A rib eye steak, oven chips in the RM or mash with veg and a glass of red stuff goes down well. The thought of a nice pie with a favourite filling sounds worth trying to me.
.
Also in winter you have plenty of time on your hands to cook food and it’s part of my routine once dark after 4 o’clock. In summer it’s nice to sit out and leisurely cook something and enjoy the scenery. I do 3 or 4 nights at a time so varied food is something I’m always on the lookout for. I enjoy cooking a good meal as much as the finished result. As stated although the toaster is not a new invention by any means, the ones marketed by RM have taken the market by storm and have opened up a lot of new possibilities for cooking in lightweight small utensils, with some people only taking these and nothing else for a session.
If you don’t like the El Cheapo fillings use your imagination, don’t shoot the messenger.

In reply to Post #9 You could just buy the M&S steak pie and warm it gently in the big toaster with spuds etc.
