In reply to Post #37 I don't think he is that popular with Reading DAA bailiffs

In reply to Post #36 I agree Andy. Laney is a nice bloke, an amazing, natural angler and tells a great story.....but rarely the full story!

In reply to Post #33 Agree 100 %. Hats off to Browns for the evening. No doubting Laneys ability but he can rub people up the wrong way with his actions on lakes they're fishing. My take on it is hes not necessarily breaking the rules, just pushing them to the max and fulfilling his writing obligations. Appreciate that he can and does get away with some things because of who he is though.

Anyone know anything about Barford lake? Used to be on the Blunham ticket, believe it's a syndicate these days?

In reply to Post #32 I reckon penners slide shows are consistently some of the best. Never does the turned up, caught that routine.
Laney is just next level hunter. I could fish for a million years and I’d never be able to find them like he can. Or pecky. Whole different level of watercraft that I will never achieve.
Yeah I was there with a few mates and bumped into loads of guys I’ve not seen for ages. I really enjoyed the evening. I think it’s brilliant that browns put all the effort in to do stuff for local anglers.

In reply to Post #31 Lol...You were there too . Got the impression he spent almost as much time building BBQ's as he did wetting a line!!! Enjoyed Penners' talk too. Couple of others I recognised too including the lad who had that 40+ beast from Ecton

In reply to Post #27 Brogborough. Was at a slide show a few weeks ago in Bedfordshire and he talked quite a bit about his time on there.

In reply to Post #28 Yeah Stewartby. Dont think that ones on the ampthil ticket the bogborough one is. Marston is too.
The big lake Dave Fishes I think is parallel to the road that goes to kempston retail park from ampthill. If that is the lake he fishes, which from the looks of it, it is then it takes over a minute to drive past at 60mph! Looks awsome and I believe once held a 50lber that got ottered and I got told if Inwanted to waste ten years of my life there was an absolutely MINT scaley at about 37 38lbs.... this info was given to me by a reliable source several years ago. I'm assuming it is this lake descriptions locations and pictures/videos look it ;-)

In reply to Post #28 Pretty sure theyre Ampthill AC ticket. Occasionaly hear rumours about them throwing something significant up,but as its open access im guessing theres a lot of bluster and those that do the time and get results stay tight lipped.. definately venues for those who want a challenge

In reply to Post #24 That’s a pretty cool story Carpbourne, Len (God rest his soul) knew the score and did a great job. This all happened well before my time. I was recently told a story how the travellers camped nearby ‘borrowed’ some poor buggers tackle and one of the Elstow bailiffs that was a little un-hinged took a double barrelled over to their caravan park and on demanding to speak to their honcho got the gear returned.

In reply to Post #24 Not exactly sure where this is tbh, there's a very weedy small intimate lake with islands on the left southbound on the a1, what lake please, quite a bit before wyboston, i think theres a sharp bend or two then as the road straightens its on the left. Sorry for the vagueness

In reply to Post #23 God , would never imagined that situation 😲. When the lake went free fishing and some of the fish seeded waters as far as Oxfordshire I proposed a syndicate on it . I quoted it it the same as Len Guard who lived near me , with places I could easily filled , and a bit extra for a gatted carpark at least the one nearest the entrance . There were a lot of thefts going on , but the carpark round the back was less vulnerable . Len won the day obviously , and offered me a place , even bailiffing duties 😀. I questioned why I'd lost out as I knew I'd offered enough money , the answer ??? Len had wrote in on official looking headed paper , fair play 😂
