I'm guessing your referring to The Tackle Box, I don't believe they do the full strip. It's an assumption on my part based on the ultrasonic cleaning that Jims go the whole hog but I'll defo check.

When you say a full strip down (as a certain tackle supplier doesnít go the whole hog) do they strip down the ball races clean and relube along with the line guide etc.

Itís worth asking as Iíve had lengthy discussions with Garry and know he does every mm and the service cost per reel is only a few quid difference. So worth baring in mind.

Have my ISOs with Garry at the moment and looking forward to them being done (they are lightly used) pretty much mint and yet I hated them compared to my tournies. One was however pretty dam good and hence during discussions with Garry felt he could sort them to perform as they should. He has had a brief play and feels that they will improve considerably. Bare in mind these are near on mint, and two years old. My other two sets of reels have had plenty of punishment and are better at the moment.

I donít know these chaps and Iím not trying to knock them just responding to thought that saving a few quid is possibly a false economy.

I serviced my three of my four tourneys, have an ultrasonic bath etc and Garry was a diamond with giving me advice and feel he is worth his weight in gold.

If these chaps are as good and local then great.

Likewise

I service my own reels and buy consumables and spare parts ( when needed) from Jimís and would heartily recommend him.

Saying that I never knew how cheap his servicing was. I may use this in future if Iím ever pressed for time.

It comes up 27 quid for full strip down with ultrasonic cleaning. That's a fair bit less than your Weston/Custom Reels options.

Not used him for any reel service, but have used him for reel spares and could not fault the service from him at all, I would try him if need be but might be worth a phone call first regards prices on the reels you have

Anyone used these guys for servicing reels?

Prices look really good for full service.
