Arrived in minus 4 and it went down to minus 7 and there was snow making access to the lake near impossible.
Turned around and came home, drove 1100 miles in 30 hours with 2 hours sleep.

Cousin is a really good angler and puts in the hard work as well. On that trip he netted every fish as he had the only waders. At night it was painful to see him getting into stiff, freezing cold waders every time one of us had a fish on🤣 He may be good but his PB of 62 doesn’t beat my 75!

Yea that bottom end is literally inches deep!! It would be stitched with anymore than 3 anglers I think, the 6 max on it would defo be a bit tight for me. You two did really well catching that many thats a right result!!!

My cousin and I fished it a few years back in an October. From memory it was advertised as 10 acres. We arrived to find the water level very low due to a long drought period in the area, prob no more than 6 acres. However, we were the only 2 on the lake. Set up in double swim 18 I think it was, on the bank furthest from the washroom/kitchen. The young bailiff met us on the Saturday morning, got on his bicycle, pedalled off and that was the last we saw of anyone all week. Showers, toilets kitchen and freezer all good. Shorts during the day but thermals and a BBQ every night as it was absolutely freezing and one night it snowed! We must have used up all the dead wood around the lake to keep the BBQ going and us warm until we were ready for sleep.
Cousin fished left toward the dam and toward the post, I fished right of the post and centre of the lake. Did not go toward the bottom of the lake as it was so shallow. Neither of us fished the far margins - Cousin had 43 fish to over 40lb, I had 30 odd fish to high 30s. It was however necessary to put on waders to land them as there was not enough depth at the bank. Didn’t hear any donkey though - he must have been inside hiding from the cold. A good trip but if there had been any more anglers on the lake it would have been impossible.

lol that bloody donkey was there back in 2002 when i first went, times must have changed, 6 of us felt quite spread out. 2 on the dam, 2 on the point, 1 on the left hand bank and 1 in the shallows. Most of the fishing was only 40 or 50 yard chucks tho!

Hows the lodge, heard from mate who down the years went that it slowly deteriorated to the point they stopped going!

When i went it was mint with 2 toilets, lovely shower and well furnished kitchen??

Hi mate. Had a lovely wk with plenty of wine and nice food!!! The setting is the best I've ever experienced in france absolutely stunning. Three of us had the lake to ourselves weather high 20s almost every day. I had 12 fish up to 48lb. Other 2 lads had about 9 between them but both had 50s. Would love to go back but think the 6 max anglers on there would be a bit tight!! 3 of us was just right, enough room to move about etc.

Haven’t been there for a few years... there are a few Cats in there, and few bigguns too.. I had them up to 60+.. not my thing, but interesting none the less..the place has matured nicely bankside. The hut could do with a little work, but anglers don’t care too much for price of isolation on this lake..
Some nice carp in there.. 👍🏻 Rob who owns the Mirror Pool fisheries will be able to give you more info.

We went here a few years ago now and had a decent stamp of fish between us.
The dam wall is obviously the deepest end with the far end being pretty shallow. The fish were held up in the shallows when it was warm, but soon moved off when the weather deteriorated.
The pole in the middle was a good spot for my friends who fished near to it, and good area to get the cats from. They used fish meals and had cats to 78lb, whereas I stuck to other baits and avoided the moggies.
Overall it's a lovely quiet lake away from it all and well worth a visit.

Has anybody else got any recent info on the place? Never set eyes on the place before so going in a bit blind if I'm honest!!! Not much on the net or YouTube about the lake really. Thanks in advance.

If this is the Meadow lake near Limoges, I was there couple years ago - me & my mate hired the whole lake - had a shed load of fish to low fifty. Nice quiet place, lodge a bit basic but did it's job. We baited the deep area in middle heavily with Mainline Essential Opal from day one and caught all fish from this area.

We last fished it in 2012, it had issues then. It looks back on form again now, so much so that a few of us are booked on again for September.

For wits worth I fished Mayflower (also part of the Mirror Group of lakes) in May and found the Facilities set up very good and bailiffs really helpful (they pulled our van out of boggy ground). The fishing was difficult as the margins were awash tadpoles and the fish besotted with free food in a distant Margin. One of our group could cast to these shallows and had 3 fifties in a row plus back up forties. Zigging tadpole like baits in 2 Foot of water.
