In reply to Post #97 If you've ever fished for extremely large fish you'll know the gear you require. They're in amongst loads of bluefin, seeing them bust out, picking them up on the echo, massive 6/700lb fish. The gear they hook the bluefin on isn't uk shark gear. 80lb stand up tuna stick with full roller guides, 50 wide reel probably with 500 yards of 80lb line loaded. They were loaded for bear for a reason. Not smart making a video when it's so obvious what's going on, so yes they wouldn't be able to if deliberately targeting, hence the accidental catch spin.

In reply to Post #96 So how do you know they were targeting bluefin, I had the video on but didn't watch intently did I miss something.
If deliberately targeted and they managed to land one they wouldn't be able to make the video?

In reply to Post #94 Without watching the whole video again did they say they were going to target Bluefin Tuna?

In reply to Post #91 They hooked and lost exactly the species they targeted at the point in the video Jon, Bluefin tuna. It's an ICCAT protected species and only to be targeted by authorised boats within the tagging program. The trip they were on was not within the program.

In reply to Post #91 Well the title of the video does not say "shark fishing",they catch a nice blue shark from a boat kitted out and run properly for sharks so not sure what is wrong.I think the title is something about a big fish taking a bait intended for sharks

seen a video of Darrell Peck out in a boat without a life jacket, think it was the French pit one, but it was only once in the film, he wore one on every other occasion. he clearly just forgot in the rush to get in it. I've never fished from/with a boat but imagine its easily done at times.
can only assume that they have just forgotten on that occasion, and as said before, a short video explaining the dangers etc and that they had forgotten would be a good thing. and some easy content for them to make

Watched bits and bobs of the stuff they've done and generally enjoyed it. Watched one earlier that I presume is very recent. "Shark fishing" my arse. Taking the piss to put that in film on a public platform

A statement would be the best answer apologising and warning people of the dangers. Even a short video admitting their error of judgement.
