It was worse when they had the fire that shut the bridge and converging lanes, I never go that route anymore.
Portsmouth to Caen ferry on the overnight crossing, get a cabin have a nice kip, breakfast on the boat and a leisurely 7 hour drive down to Rainbow, makes much more sense when your making a single crossing unless you add discounts or block bookings on the train which I wouldn't get to use.

Ferry route
Portsmouth - Caen = £500 but depends on time of year and how early it's booked average with a cabin both ways
Tolls = 66 euro
2 tanks of fuel = £160
Driving time both ways 18 hours

Tunnel Route
Crossing £220ish depends on how early I book
Tolls 140/150 euro
Almost 4 tanks of fuel £300
Driving time both ways 32 hours

If you want to save 186 miles of tolls both ways on a decent road take junction 30 Poitier sud then follow sign for Angouleme jumping on the N10 brings you out just north of Bordeaux at Jct 39a/b only adds about 15 minutes on the journey but cuts the tolls down by 68 euros worth the extra 30 minutes for the round trip.

Yeah, same for us too, always breath a sigh of relief when we see the cow island, you sort of know that you have made it!

Think I will turn the Sat Nav off at Rouen next time and do the route from memory, and hope that one day the French build a route périphérique

I was looking forward to seeing all the graffiti on the walls opposite the rail yard, but the Sat Nav didn't take us that way this bloody time

You can add three quarters of an hour onto your journey if the Sat Nav throws a wobbly in Rouen like it does most times when you drive through there.

It happened when I was out there, not to me fortunately but everyone seemed to know who it was.
This fella seems to be notorious for it but nobody says anything.

I'm sorry to hear that bud, what the **** is wrong with these *****

I was warned that it happens so I set a trap and caught somebody red handed. he won't be getting away with it one way or another trust me.

I've fished loads of times in France at venues with communal freezers for bait, this is the first time I have ever experienced this, and to be honest it's made me feel so sad that on probably what is considered to be the best carp lake in the world, anglers can't trust each other. I always thought that fishing was a great leveler with fishermen treating each other like family, BIG MISTAKE

If I get to go again, I won't be taking any chances that's for sure, something I hate doing but I will air dry and keep it in my swim, or put it in bags chained to the freezers, how bloody sad!

My pal is going to speak to Pascal and his sons Paul and Max about installing some proper CCTV in and around the clubhouse too

Happened to me a few times in the last few years a good friend of mine had 30 kilo taken on his first week when he was there for two weeks.
I have my theories on it and why it goes on.
