In reply to Post #1 Makes a brilliant old school dip add 3mil of mulberry to a jar oh honey place jar in pan of boiling water let it heat up and stir in it.let it cool and use over the next few months the honey turns more into a sugar even better sticks like **** to a bed sheet. If you like the runny version just boil jar in water again. I have said mulberry but any flavour will do or just plain honey. Word of warning if you use monster crab it will stink the house out

I use honey in a sweet milk birdfood with decent results. Imho the bait is better with it than without. Usually at 30ml/6 eggs.

In reply to Post #9 I doubt honey would be a good attractant in anything but very warm water.

In reply to Post #5 I’m not knocking it, but Manuka better be good at over £20 for a jar for the real McCoy.....
Then again, some flavours cost more than this for the same volume. 🙂

Sure mark puts manuka in his gpb1 hook baits so it certainly can't hurt to put some in.

In reply to Post #1 Been used for years, even Issac Walton was on it 400 years ago lol, mind you though, he used to fish chopped up rabbit and cat flesh for carp lol
I came across an article online a while ago, it was about his book “the complete angler” interesting what they were up to at the time, us instants don’t know **** all

In reply to Post #2 Loads of birdfoods have it in... Nectablend (clue in the name), Orlux etc etc... And the British record from Mapperley was caught using honey paste.

In reply to Post #1 I believe there's a small amount of Honey in Red Factor Bird Food.
But I wouldn't know if it makes any significant difference in a bait especially at a low level.

Does anyone have any experience of using honey in their home rolled baits? I was reading some recipes on John Bakers website and he advocates its use in a number of recipes.
