Really? I was lead to believe it was now a no go area? But as I've said before, I'm not currently a member.

I did wander round with a rod and catch off one of the platforms when I was there. Shame its not allowed now but the rest of the lake being open year round is a bonus.

The fish do get right in tight up that end

That's correct. Not sure how shallow it is exactly. I have walked out on a couple of the shooting platforms and seems to only be a foot or two of water. How deep it is tight up to the reeds at the top end, I'm not sure.

terry is still about (or at least was when i was there) - hes the bloke that had the 20 + mirror whilst i was there

the rules have changed a now as well - can fish 3/4s of the lake all year rather than certain banks at certain times - only bank you cant fish is the overgrown bank with the jetties on

May give it a bash as a backup water when syndicate is busy.
You used to only be able to fish about a third of the lake due to no access
Is this still the same. I remember a nic fella Called Terry back then who knew a lot

probably the same common thats the biggest in there now - around 28/29lb when i fished 3 years ago or so.

mirrors still quite elusive but i had a couple - nothing big (one of my 19's) I have seen one mirror go 23lb.

you do get some kids up there now and again sometimes having a swim but they dont cause any trouble and to be honest i'd rather that than they were staring at a playstation all the time. they keep well out the way.

fished it quite a bit being the only one on the whole lake and sometimes used to nip up to the pub on a hot day leaving my kit there - never had any trouble, lovely place and somewhere i will have to go back to to get my elusive 20!

Cheers joe
Let time I fished it was drained down a few feet for work on the dam, must be 20 years ago now and back then lake record was a 24 common.
I remember it was stocked by someone who put in a dozen mirrors and they never got caught.
Long story short we had a flash flood and level rose 2ft in a matter of hours and I had three of those mirrors during that storm.
Nothing massive low double but never saw them again.
May have another crack.
I fished the bay opposite the car park about half way down towards an old jetty.

Car park and fishing is all secure. I've been on the dam late evening and had a couple of cars roll up, all they do is smoke and leave again.

I agree.. a 20 would be an amazing fish from there. Doesn’t seem likely.

How secure is the car park and fishing?
Used to get locals hanging about in car park having a beer and a smoke.
Never had an issue with them back in the day mind you.

The club claim Valebridge push 20, and whilst I'm an advocate for HHDAS(despite not having had a ticket for a while), I've never caught, met anyone who has, or seen a photo of any close to that size.
